Chace Crawford Teases Romances Behind-the-Scenes on ‘Gossip Girl’ Set

From 2007-2012, “Gossip Girl” captured viewers’ attention. Chace Crawford starred as Nate Archibald, ex-boyfriend to Blake Lively‘s character, Serena van der Woodsen.

After all these years, the cast recognizes the cultural significance their show had. In a recent interview, Chace Crawford opened up about the relationships that developed on set.

See what the actor recalled about his experience behind-the-scenes of the beloved teen drama.

Chace Crawford Likens the ‘Gossip Girl’ Set to One Big ‘College Experience’

While speaking to Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast, Chace Crawford dove into the romances that popped up on the “Gossip Girl” set.

Crawford admitted that many of his co-stars became romantically involved with each other, he didn’t date anyone from the main cast.

“How did you, or maybe you did, I didn’t follow the drama of it. But did you avoid getting romantically involved with any of these people? That’s where I would’ve absolutely floundered. I would’ve tried to date all of them,” Dax Shepard wondered.

“Some of them dated each other,” Crawford responded. “You know, there’s things that happen or connections that happen. I mean, I never dated anyone on the show.”

However, “The Boys” star did use his professional connections to his advantage.

“There’d be people, I remember there’s a lot of guest stars and people in the orbit of the show that you’d meet through other friends. And I remember that was a way to meet people,” Crawford remembered.

But at the end of the day, he doesn’t feel like he missed out.

“When you’re young, it is a different thing. Because it is like a college experience, it’s all different,” the 40-year-old continued. “Everyone’s kind of single or dating or whatever, everyone’s sort of up for whatever. Nobody’s married, the stakes are very low, so it is a funnier, more college-like school experience.”

The Actor Recalls Bumping Into Co-star Leighton Meester at a Concert

Although Chace Crawford is on friendly terms with his “Gossip Girl” co-stars, life and adulthood has often gotten in the way of them seeing each other.

It was completely by chance that he ran into Leighton Meester at a concert.

“I ended up at a Beyoncé concert, don’t ask me how, but I was there with someone and [Leighton] ended up sitting right next to me,” Crawford told PEOPLE last summer. “She’s like, ‘What are you doing here?’ And it was so loud. We were trying to catch up. I was like, ‘Look, we’re going to lunch or something. We’ve got to actually catch up properly.’”

“So two days later, we went to a late breakfast and we ended up hanging out for three hours, catching up,” he told the outlet. “You realize as you get older, too, oh my God, these people were such a specific relationship. We went through this crazy thing together. It’s a special thing in life to be able to reconnect now that we’re all older and view it from a different lens from afar and so far removed.”
