As the search for Nancy Guthrie entered its sixth day, emotions surfaced publicly as investigators continued working without clear answers. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who has led the case from the beginning, became visibly emotional during a new interview while discussing the personal toll of the investigation.
‘You Have To Have Hope’: Sheriff Nanos Gets Teary-Eyed in New Interview
Speaking with NBC correspondent Liz Kreutz in an interview that aired on the “Today” show on Friday, February 6, Nanos addressed where hope still comes from, as no suspect or person of interest has been identified in the disappearance of the 84-year-old mother of three.
“You have to have hope,” Nanos said, his voice trembling. “You have to have hope. Come on, this is somebody’s mom. We’re gonna find her.”
Guthrie Family Pleads Directly for Contact
The Guthrie family has continued to speak publicly, urging whoever took Nancy to make contact so a line of communication can be established.
In an emotional video shared on February 4, Savannah Guthrie appeared alongside her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, addressing those responsible for their mother’s disappearance and asking them to come forward.
NBCUniversal“As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk,” Savannah said. “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”
The following day, Camron shared a second video, again directing his plea to the abductor and emphasizing the family’s need for direct contact.
“Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you,” Camron said. “We haven’t heard anything directly. We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward.”
Authorities Address Ransom Note Developments
GettyDuring a press conference on Thursday, authorities said they are continuing to investigate a ransom note that was shared with media outlets and demanded bitcoin.
Officials also confirmed that a separate, fraudulent ransom attempt led to an arrest earlier that day.
“My next message is to those impostors who are trying to take advantage and profit from this situation,” FBI Agent Heith Janke said. “We will investigate and ensure you are held accountable for your actions.”
He added that the arrest was unrelated to Nancy’s disappearance. “We believe there’s no evidence to connect this to Nancy’s case. It was someone who was trying to profit from it, a total imposter.”

Why doesn’t Savannah offer a higher reward??
Somebody somewhere knows something. It’s not like someone was able to do this alone and keep it a secret. For God’s sake ppl do the right thing and give that family their mother back. Just let her go and walk away! If u have any decency as a human being at all that is what you’ll do! I feel like it’s probably someone who’s obsessed with Savannah and if so why would you do this to her and her mother. Snap out of it do the right thing. And to the ppl who know about this and are standing by doing nothing, call in a tip, let police know where she is and get out of there B4 they come. Don’t stand by doing nothing, it’s not going to end well and at least show us ur not a coward & can still do the right thing.
It doesn’t matter for higher reward now whoever have her will not want to be seen the consequences of being caught is prison time
God our Father, I plead the blood of Jesus over Nancy. Bring her home safe. AMEN!!
Amen 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Does this town not have cameras everywhere throughout it what about all the ring doorbells in that neighborhood they had to drive in and drive out I don’t think someone would carry a body down the street in Ohio the couple that was shot and killed by the wife’s ex-husband technology of camera of the neighbors of the businesses and the street cameras help solve that case what about black boxes in the cars of the other family members it’s not to say that a family member was involved but I believe this is closer to the family then people want to see hope that she is returned but the longer situation go on I would think that they would begin to realize that maybe this is not going to end well
Well I understand it is the sister who brought her to dinner and was the last to see her.One of The sister’s cars has been impounded and there was blood on the mother’s porch. The cameras at the mother’s home was all smashed in. It is said the BIL is a suspect.
I say give that sister a lie detector test I believe she have something to do with her mother. She was the last to be with her.
