Ever since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3rd, the wedding has been the talk of the town. However, the exclusive and private ceremony itself has been far less discussed, with only rumours circulating so far. Now, former late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien has spilled beans (but not so much), addressing those rumors himself.
Conan Thought No-Phone Policy Was a Good Idea
In an episode of his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend with guest Andy Daly, the talk show host discussed the wild hearsays that have been making waves online. First on his list of debunked myths, Conan confirmed no phones were allowed – in fact, he thought that was for the best.
“People gave up their phones, which I think was a good idea,” he said.
GettyCalling out those rumors “insane” and “crazy”, he also addressed speculation about whether there were enough seats for guests. He explained, “There’s a reception where there’s places to sit, but you didn’t want to sit. You know, mostly people were standing and talking, and there’s music.”
Conan Being Conan Cracked Funny Jokes About the Wedding
In conversation with Andy, Conan couldn’t keep himself from humouring his guest. He joked about gifting the couple a used rice cooker, before revealing he didn’t actually give them a wedding gift – later quipping, “But I should’ve.”
GettyHis strings of jokes went on, from the wedding gift to showing up “five hours early” while “dressed as a custodiam” to help set up, and playing a blindfolded game of musical chair that resulted in people getting “badly hurt” and needing to be “helicoptered out.”
Conan Had the Sweetest Word of Appreciation for Adam Sandler
Conan, who attended the wedding with his wife, Liza Powel O’Brien, described the ceremony as “wonderful” and “beautiful,” while also admitting he’d been tight-lipped about it. He added that he was being “very discreet” out of respect for the couple’s privacy.
GettyAs for who officiated the couple’s wedding, it’s no secret – it was their mutual, close friend Adam Sandler. And Conan had sweet words for Swift and Kelce’ officiant too.
“Adam Sandler was brilliant and really sweet and perfection,” he said. “And I keep bothering him because we’re friends. I keep telling him how it’s one of the finest things I’ve seen a person do. He just hit the tone. He was funny. He was sweet. It was perfection.”
Even Travis had some nice things to say about Adam. In his recent episode of New Heights, Travis went on to dub him “best person” on the planet.
He has been just the [expletive] best person on this planet,” Kelce said. “For him to be up for getting ordained in the State of New York and marrying me and Taylor” was especially meaningful.
Conan even praised Steve Nicks and Paul McCartney for their “fantastic” performance.
