Scott-Haughton’s colleagues were informed of her passing in an internal email penned by BBC content chief Kate Phillips and director of drama Lindsay Salt. “We have some truly awful news to share. Dani Scott-Haughton, one of our brilliant drama commissioners, died unexpectedly in her sleep,” they wrote, Deadline reports.
The statement continues, “For those of you who knew Dani, you will understand just how extraordinary and special she was – full of joy for her job, super smart, deeply committed, bursting with integrity and a hugely talented commissioner who cared passionately about the work and every single person behind it. She lit up every room she walked into, and infused the drama team with positivity, kindness and the most infectious, warm energy.”
Scott-Haughton was celebrated for her work in the entertainment industry and the impact she left, specifically for helping “female and diverse writers and directors.” The statement remembers how Scott-Haughton valued her colleagues and the special soul she was.

Scott-Haughton had an incredible impact on those she worked with, including during her time working at Balloon Entertainment. Her colleagues there also released a statement sharing their heartbreak. “We are heartbroken at the death of our beloved Dani. She was the best,” they wrote in a statement, Deadline reports. “Not just the best at development, though the writers she found, nurtured, and helped take flight know she was that. Not just the best at production though she looked out for every single member of her shows’ cast and crew like they were the star.”
Scott-Haughton’s passing was also shared on Instagram by The British Blacklist. The comment section was flooded with heartfelt reactions from friends, fans, and celebrities. “Bridgerton” actress India Amarteifio penned a heartfelt tribute, writing, “What a beautiful lady, through and through. She cared so much for her craft and for ALL underrepresented people in this industry. We truly have lost such an intelligent and extraordinary lady. An honour to have been in her presence.”
Artist Zawe Ashton shared a tribute, writing, “We met last summer, I don’t understand? This is so sudden. Please bbc give some info and an obituary fitting of her unique and vast contribution my condolences to her friends and family.”
