Ella Bleu Travolta is keeping the memory of her late mother, Kelly Preston, close to her heart.
The actress and musician marked Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10, with a touching tribute shared to her Instagram Stories, remembering Preston nearly six years after her death.
Ella Remembers Her Famous Mom
Ella, the daughter of actor John Travolta and Preston, posted a sweet throwback image from her childhood showing the pair smiling together.
In the snapshot, young Ella wrapped her arm around her mom while Preston held what appeared to be a wrapped present and a celebratory bowl of ice cream topped with a candle.
“Happy Mother’s Day Mama, I love you,” Ella wrote alongside the photo, adding three heart emojis.
The heartfelt message offered another glimpse into the close bond Ella continues to share with her mother’s memory.
Preston died in July 2020 at age 57 following a private two-year battle with breast cancer.
She and John Travolta shared three children together: daughter Ella Bleu, son Benjamin, 15, and son Jett, who died in 2009 at age 16.
Ella Has Shared Sweet Tributes Since Her Passing
This is not the first time Ella has publicly honored her mother.
Since her passing she has shared numerous moments on social media, remembering her mom.
Ella normally shares a yearly birthday post in memory of Preston.
The family has remained closely connected in the years following Preston’s death, often paying tribute to her publicly while supporting one another through personal milestones.
Ella Is About to Star in a New Film With Her Famous Dad
Ella is also continuing to build her entertainment career — including an upcoming project alongside her father.
She stars opposite John Travolta in “Propeller One-Way Night Coach,” a film they worked on together. The movie’s first trailer was recently shared online.
In recent years, Travolta has spoken through his actions about prioritizing family, slowing down his acting schedule after Preston’s death to focus on raising Ella and Benjamin.
Though he still takes on select projects, the actor has largely stepped back from the demands of a full-time Hollywood career.
He frequently celebrates his children on social media.
In April, the actor praised Ella after she attended the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in Los Angeles.
Both John Travolta and Ella Have Used Music to Honor Preston
Travolta also continues to honor Preston publicly.
In October 2025, he shared a song he had recorded for his late wife in celebration of what would have been her birthday.
Music has also become a meaningful outlet for Ella as she processes grief.
Previously, she opened up about recording the song “Little Bird,” inspired by her relationship with her mother.
“[‘Little Bird’ is] about holding onto those pure relationships that you have with people that you lost and really just listening to yourself and staying true to that relationship with that person,” Ella explained to People. “It’s sort of the viewpoint of a mama bird talking to a baby bird and just not letting any other interference get in between it, because your true instincts were there all along.”
Reflecting on the emotional process, she added, “It had been a couple years, obviously, since my mom’s passing, so I could look at the whole situation and take a step back from it and see what I wanted to communicate on it and what I wanted to communicate to her and what I was feeling in general.”
