Harrison Ford is one of the most beloved actors of all time. This becomes even more true as he continues to take on more modern roles in Hollywood. Now, the “Shrinking” star is opening up about how he makes his marriage with Calista Flockhart work.
Ford recently appeared on NPR’s “Wild Card with Rachel Martin” podcast. While on the show, the topic of his successful marriage to Flockhart came up. In talking about his relationship with the “Ally McBeal” star, Ford said, “You know, you think about falling in love and all of that business.”
He continued, “You think it’s the business of youth or something, you know, and staying in love is the issue. Maintaining, nurturing, basically, not [messing] up.” Ford added that people in relationships “work on that every day.” Still, he allows himself a bit of a break, saying, “with some days off for bad behavior.”
The interviewer also asked Ford how long he and Flockhart had been married, and he had the sweetest response. According to him, “If you ask me, I would say all my life. I was married for the first time at 23 years of age, which should be illegal.”
Ford and Flockhart Met at an Award Show
It’s not easy for people to make romantic relationships work, and this is especially true for those with fame. However, Ford and Flockhart have withstood the test of time. According to PEOPLE, the two met at the Golden Globes in 2002 and began dating sometime after.
The two became engaged in 2009 and tied the knot the following year in Santa Fe, New Mexico. By that time, Ford was already a father to four kids. However, he then adopted Flockhart’s son, Liam. Since then, the two have been inseparable. This includes following his 2015 plane crash when Flockhart never left his side.
They Both Remain Busy in Their Respective Careers
Ford is a fairly busy man these days. Not only did he recently receive his first Emmy nomination for his role on “Shrinking,” but he was also in the limited series “1923.” Notably, the former of the two shows wrapped filming on its third season in July 2025. It is expected to return in 2026.
According to FX, Flockhart recently portrayed Lee Radziwill in season two of Ryan Murphy’s “Feud” series. She was also in 27 episodes of the recent “Supergirl” TV series, as well as four episodes of “Invincible.” She and Ford have also spoken about appearing in a film together.
