Two bodies found inside the home of Rob Reiner are indeed the legendary Reiner and his wife, TMZ reported.
“Our sources say the two suffered lacerations consistent with a knife. The LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is still investigating,” the outlet reported.
PEOPLE added that sources say the two were killed by their son, Nick.
The legendary director and actor, along with his wife, were found dead in their Brentwood home on the afternoon of Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Before their identities were confirmed, NBC4 Los Angeles reported that a man and woman were found dead inside their home, with their ages being 78 and 68 years old. While they have not been identified, that is the age of Reiner and his wife.
PEOPLE added that the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) were called to the house to provide medical aid, but the two were dead upon their arrival.
Reiner’s journey in Hollywood began on the CBS sitcom “All in the Family,” where he played Mike “Meathead” Stivic, and earned two Emmy nominations for this role. He is a talented director who was responsible for many classic films, including “When Harry Met Sally,” “The Princess Bride,” “Spinal Tap” and “A Few Good Men.”

According to CNN, the Los Angeles Police Department are “on the scene and conducting an investigation at an address associated with Hollywood director Rob Reiner.” FOX11 Los Angeles further reported that police “did not specify if the deaths were suspicious in nature or if foul play were involved.”

Reiner got married to actress and director Penny Marshall in 1971, and even adopted her daughter, actress Tracy Reiner. The two got divorced in 1981.
The actor then met his wife, photographer Michele Singer, while directing “When Harry Met Sally,” which actually led to Reiner changing the ending of the movie.
In an interview on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace,” Reiner explained that the ending was going to be much sadder.
“I’d been married for 10 years,” he explained. “I’d been single for 10 years, and I couldn’t figure out how I was ever going to be with anybody. That gave birth to ‘When Harry Met Sally.’ I hadn’t met anybody, so it was going to be the two of them seeing each other after years, talking, and then walking away from each other.”
But, his future wife changed everything.
“I met her while we were making the film, and I changed the ending,” he added.
The two got married in 1989 and have three children together.
