Jack Black got fans buzzing when he shared a behind-the-scenes photo of himself on his latest project. The pic included himself, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Alex Wolff. You know what that means… Another “Jumanji” movie is on the way!
Black took to Instagram on Wednesday, March 11, to post the image and added a caption, writing, “Just finished shooting Jumanji 3. Love this crew. Can’t wait for Christmas!”
In the comments, Johnson left Black a message, writing, “Love you brother, it truly has been a privilege to have a front row seat watching you perform across three Jumanji films! You clearly saved your best performance for last! 🥃🫱🏾🫲🏼🤎🤎”
Wolff also wrote, “Love you so much!!!”
Fans were just as excited, with one person writing, “SO HYPED.”
Another social media user added, “Can’t wait for this movie!”
“Y’all are the best 🔥🔥,” a third follower wrote.
Someone else left a comment, saying, “I loved the first one! Watched with my kids, who ADORED it, and I did too. So much freaking fun! My girls are 22, 20, 18 now but we will all be watching the new movie 🥰”
Is this ‘Jumanji’ 3… or 4… or 5?
Although Black called the new movie “Jumanji 3” in his post, a few people in the comments brought up the fact that it might actually be “Jumanji 4” or “Jumanji 5.”
That’s because there have already been three “Jumanji” movies released — “Jumanji” (1995), “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017) and “Jumanji: The Next Level” (2019). That’s not to mention 2005’s “Zathura: A Space Adventure.”
Black addressed this when he spoke to Entertainment Tonight (via Coming Soon/Y! Entertainment) in December 2025, saying, “Yeah, I am in Jumanji 3 right now. You could call it Jumanji 4 if you count the original with Robin Williams. And, really, you could call it Jumanji 5 if you count the Jon Favreau film called Zathura, which was a sequel to Jumanji. So, I like to say I’m working on Jumanji 5. And it’s really fun.”
“You know we got Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. You know we got Kevin Hart. You know we got Karen Gillan. And you know we got Danny DeVito. It’s an incredible cast,” Black told ET, while saying that the script for the next movie makes it the “best Jumanji so far.”
What You Can Expect from the New ‘Jumanji’ Film

As Collider notes, “[i]t’s hard to believe that it’s been 7 years since Jumanji: The Next Level came to theaters, a massive hit that ended up making $801 million worldwide. While The Next Level hinted at a sequel where the world of the game Jumanji comes to the real world, it’s been a long wait to see what this would look like.”
“We don’t know much about this newest Jumanji, other than that we still have to wait almost a year for it to come to theaters, and that director Jake Kasdan has said he plans on bringing back the core cast of the first two films,” Collider added. “That means we should expect to see a packed cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Alex Wolff.”
Beyond that, Collider explained that “[t]he 1995 Jumanji showed just how wild it would be if the creatures of Jumanji were to come into the real world, and it looks like this latest installment will conclude this trilogy by looking back at what that film did over 30 years earlier.”
The next “Jumanji” film is set to hit theaters on December 10.
