The great Jesse Jackson — an iconic civil rights activist, politician, and ordained Baptist minister — has passed away. He died at the age of 84 on Tuesday, February 17. Tributes have started to pour in from high-profile figures in the world of entertainment.
One of the most pertinent tributes has come from the official Instagram account of the Jackson family (no relation). The Jackson family, of course, includes the likes of Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, Randy, Janet, Jaafar, La Toya, and Rebbie, as well as the late Tito and Michael.
Their tribute was heartfelt and acknowledged the strong and meaningful relationship Jesse Jackson had with their family over a prolonged period.

Posting to their 529,000 followers, the Jackson family’s tribute included a photograph of Jesse Jackson with Michael Jackson.
The caption to the post began, “Today we mourn the passing of Rev Jesse Jackson.”
It continued, “We honor and thank him for a lifetime of courage, leadership, and unwavering commitment to civil rights, social justice, and human dignity. His voice, his actions, and his perseverance helped shape a more just and conscious world, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.”
The tribute went on, “Jesse Jackson holds a special place within the Jackson family’s history and legacy. His support, friendship, and shared commitment to equality and justice meant a great deal, and his presence will be deeply missed.”
It ended, “May his legacy continue to inspire change, compassion, and courage. May he rest in peace.🕊️”
In 2007, Reuters described Jesse Jackson as being Michael Jackson’s “spiritual advisor” during his 2005 trial.
