Jim Carrey is once again at the center of internet speculation — but this time, it has nothing to do with a movie role.
After appearing at the 2026 César Awards in Paris last week, the actor found himself trending online as fans questioned his appearance.
Social media quickly filled with unfounded claims ranging from clone conspiracies to theories that a body double had accepted his honorary award.
Much of the chatter focused on Carrey looking “unrecognizable” on the red carpet and during his acceptance speech.
Some users pointed to what they believed were changes in his facial structure, while others speculated about his demeanor.
Carrey’s Publicist Shuts Down the Rumors
Carrey’s longtime publicist, Marleah Leslie, addressed the rumors in a brief statement to TMZ, making it clear there was no mystery guest standing in for the actor.
“Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award,” she said, firmly shutting down the online theories.
Carrey himself has not directly responded to the speculation.
However, César Awards general delegate Gregory Caulier also dismissed the conspiracy talk, calling it a “non-issue,” according to Variety.
Caulier added that Carrey’s appearance had been planned for months, and the actor worked closely with the organization in the lead-up to the ceremony, including preparing his speech.
Fuel was added to the rumor mill when makeup artist Alexis Stone — known for dramatic celebrity transformations — posted images online claiming he had turned himself into the “Dumb and Dumber” star.
Stone shared photos of Carrey at the event alongside pictures of a silicone mask, teeth and a wig, prompting some to question what was real.
Despite the viral posts, there has been no evidence suggesting Carrey was not present himself.
Carrey Steps Out With New Partner
Beyond the online chatter, the night also marked a personal milestone for Carrey.
He made his first public appearance with girlfriend Min Ah as the couple attended the awards together.
While accepting his honorary César — delivering his speech entirely in French — Carrey paid tribute to those closest to him, including his new partner.
“Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah,” Carrey said. “I love you, Min Ah. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father, Percy Joseph Carrey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter.”

It’s always good to hear the official word on these things, especially when there’s a lot of speculation online.
