Dannielynn Birkhead is officially entering a new decade, and her dad, Larry Birkhead, is making sure the milestone gets celebrated.
The daughter of Larry and the late Anna Nicole Smith turned 20 on Sept. 7. To mark the occasion, Larry shared a sweet birthday tribute to his daughter on social media.
“Happy 20th Birthday Dannielynn!” Larry wrote, adding red heart emojis and, “Love, Dad.”
Dannielynn Is Now 20
The post included a small photo reel showing Dannielynn at different ages.
In the first image, she posed on a city stoop wearing a black velvet dress, fishnet tights, lacy black socks, black sunglasses and layered necklaces.
Another recent photo showed the 20-year-old sitting at a restaurant in a Ghost T-shirt with her hair dyed red. Two throwback pictures of Dannielynn as a young child followed. Larry also pointed out that both of his daughter’s outfits were purchased at Hot Topic.
The birthday post quickly had fans reflecting on just how quickly time has passed.
“Happy 20th Birthday! I feel so old. lol,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “How in the world is she 20 already we cant be getting old we are still young.”
“Great dad got her as far away from Hollywood as possible,” someone else wrote.
“Happy birthday. She’s a beautiful young woman and she has the most amazing dad,” one fan gushed. “My daughter loves Ghost too, I think she also has that shirt.”
Others simply filled the comments with birthday wishes.
The Two Attend the Kentucky Derby Every Year
Larry has largely kept Dannielynn away from the Hollywood spotlight since Anna Nicole’s death in 2007.
At the time, Dannielynn was just five months old. Despite maintaining a relatively private life, the father-daughter duo have continued one very public tradition together: attending the Kentucky Derby.
The event holds special meaning for Larry because it was where he met Anna Nicole years ago.
For years, he and Dannielynn have returned to the horse race together, creating a collection of memories and photographs.
That tradition, though, may be changing as Dannielynn gets older.
Now a college sophomore studying forensics, Dannielynn has indicated that she may be ready to spend more time away from the annual event. At this year’s Kentucky Derby in May, Larry acknowledged that his daughter is growing up.
“She’s almost 20 years old and there’s cooler people to hang out with [than] me,” Larry told Access Hollywood. “We’ve really done this, and it’s been a tradition and I think it’s something that we don’t know if we’re going to do it again, ever. So this could be, like, the end of our photo book. We don’t know. But we had one hell of a scrapbook if we [don’t come back].”
Dannielynn seemed comfortable with the possibility of moving on from the tradition.
“I kind of want to step away,” she shared. “I’m grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had and being able to talk with you and share stories, but I’m more of like a stay at home and hide under my blanket type of person.”
For Larry, the memories remain priceless.
“At the end of the day, I think that we’ve had a great time at it. Never say never, but we’re out of colors and ideas.”
As Dannielynn celebrates 20, she appears ready for a new chapter while carrying plenty of cherished memories with her dad.
