Leonardo DiCaprio Loyally Protects His Friend After Viral Inside Joke: ‘I’m Not a Rat’

Leonardo DiCaprio went viral at the 2026 Golden Globes on January 11 for sharing a joke from a distance in a viral moment that was widely scrutinized by social media mouth readers. Fans are curious about the identity of the person on the receiving end of Leo’s funny expressions, but the “Titanic” actor is staying mum.

In a Deadline feature published January 22, the outlet says DiCaprio opened up about his feelings on his Oscar nomination for “One Battle After Another,” but chose not to say much about the Golden Globes joke. They say he told them, “It was directed to a friend, but at the end of the day, who knows if this other person that I was talking to wants me to even mention their name? So, as the lead character says in ‘A Bronx Tale, I’m not a rat.”

One fan speculated on X that Leo said, “I was watching you with the K pop thing, you were like, who’s that, is that, Oh, K pop.”

Leonardo DiCaprio Spotted Shopping With Vittoria Ceretti

GQ says the “Shutter Island” star was seen shopping with his girlfriend, model Vittoria Ceretti, at a Dior store over the weekend.

Ceretti wore a cozy fur and Leo wore a simple gray t shirt as the pair browsed. The Daily Mail says the NYC shopping trip was the cute couple’s first public outing since the Golden Globes, and that they also browsed the Saint Laurent store. They say Ceretti appeared to be helping Leo peruse clothes and didn’t do any shopping for herself. The acting legend ended up purchasing around a dozen items, per the report.

Although he didn’t want to say much about the viral Golden Globes joke in his recent Deadline interview, DiCaprio didn’t mind spilling his thoughts about Paul Thomas Anderson’s drama thriller “One Battle After Another” which scored the star his eighth Oscar nomination.

He gushed to the outlet, “To work on this film with Paul and just to collaborate on a film that just feels so topical, man, it’s unbelievable. It has been so cool to be a part of this band, when you go out in the world and are able to talk about a film that you’re truly proud of. With actors that you’re so proud to work with and a story that you feel is important. We’ve been doing it for the past year, and there’s an ease to talking about something that you have such a genuine love and pride for. And that’s how I feel about this movie.”
