When asked whether turning 50 last year has made him reflect more on life, the Oscar winner said it made him want “to just be more honest and not waste your time.”
Learning from His Mother’s No-Nonsense Approach

While DiCaprio says he rarely watches his own movies, one stands out: 2004’s “The Aviator.” The film was a passion project he carried for a decade before bringing it to Martin Scorsese after a scheduling conflict with Michael Mann.
“I was 30. It was the first time as an actor I got to feel implicitly part of the production, rather than just an actor hired to play a role,” he recalled. “I’ve always felt proud and connected to that film as such a key part of my growing up in this industry.”
