Lesley Ann Warren and Tim Curry reunited to celebrate the 40th anniversary of “Clue” in 2025. They attended a screening of the movie and answered questions from the audience. Warren, 80, talked about reuniting with Curry and why those appearances were a struggle for him.
Lesley Ann Warren Says Tim Curry Struggled Not Doing What He Loved
The actress played the madame, Miss Scarlet, in the comedy. Curry played Wadsworth, Mr. Boddy’s butler, and had the tough job of hosting the six strangers invited to the mansion. The Q&A screenings were on May 17 and June 6 in California.
“As much time had passed, and the awful challenges, physically, he was going through, it was as if no time had passed,” Warren told PEOPLE. However, the appearances weren’t easy for her costar.
“Honestly, my last couple of personal appearances with him, he was struggling so very much, and it was so difficult for him on so many levels, emotionally, psychologically, in terms of his great talent to not be able to do what he loved to do,” she said.
Tim Curry’s Co-stars Wrote Tributes to Him
Curry had a stroke in 2012 and needed emergency brain surgery. The Tony winner used a wheelchair afterward and temporarily lost the ability to speak for weeks. This affected his ability to work, but he did do voiceover roles after the stroke.

“What a funny, sexy, original he was. But what I loved about him most was his heart. Even wheelchair-bound, he continued to be so sweet and generous with his fans. Thank you, Tim, for meaning so much to so many people. Love you, S” Sarah Sarandon wrote in an Instagram caption of pictures with her former costar.
“My last conversation with Tim Curry was about life and love and laughter. The grim physical state he found himself in has now ended, a blessing. Our blessing was that we had Tim Curry in our lives. RIP, my friend,” Michael McKean, who played Mr. Green in “Clue”, posted on X.
Christopher Lloyd shared a picture of Curry on his Instagram story after the news with a heart emoji. The “Back to the Future” star played Professor Plum in the murder mystery.
“Though widely known for his inimitable, flamboyant characters and colorful stage performances, his greatest legacies to those who knew him were his curious, expansive mind and generous, gentle heart, both of which remained open and filled with anticipation until his final breath,” Curry’s publicist Sean Katz said in a statement, according to CNN.
Curry reflected on his career in multiple ways before his death. He appeared in the documentary, “Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror” which was released last year. The “It” star also released a memoir called “Vagabond.”
