As buzz continues around a “Barbie” movie sequel, one particular detail has been revealed when it comes to the star who brought the iconic doll to life onscreen, Margot Robbie. It turns out that the successful actress earned quite a bit of money for her role in the film. And by that, we mean that she is thought to have taken home the kind of paycheck that will make your jaw drop. In fact, Page Six deemed her “whopping” paycheck to be absolutely “staggering.”
Margot Made a Massive Fortune Thanks to Barbie
GettyAlong with earning countless impressive accolades and a slew of industry awards, 2023’s “Barbie” ended up being the highest-grossing movie that Warner Bros. has ever released, according to Variety. To be specific, it “grossed more than $1.4 billion at the global box office.” This financial success made the movie’s co-writer and director Greta Gerwig “the most successful woman director ever.”
As for Robbie — who was not only the movie’s star, but also acted as one of its producers — it was estimated that she would be taking home $50 million for her work on the film. Granted, a studio source told Variety that the total amount that she will earn will be “well ahead” of that amount in the end.
That surely makes you wonder what Robbie might earn for the “Barbie” sequel. Although we don’t know what that is quite yet, Variety did note that Ryan Gosling reportedly wants $20 million to bring his Ken character back to the big screen.
These Actresses Are the Highest Paid in Hollywood

As L’Officiel pointed out in July 2025, “Whether it’s Margot Robbie transforming into Barbie for the 2023 film that made Warner Bros history or Scarlett Johansson becoming the highest-grossing actress of all time for her roles in ‘The Avengers’ films and ‘Jurassic World Rebirth,’ these women have raised the bar for leading actors.”
So who else is bringing in the big bucks thanks to their work in show business? Reese Witherspoon is unsurprisingly among the top earners and is reportedly paid in the range of $15 to $20 million for each of her onscreen roles.
Nicole Kidman can also demand a chunky paycheck and has been doing so for years. Earning around $15 million per role even two decades ago, her biggest salary to date was an impressive $17.5 million for her work in 2005’s “Bewitched.” More recently, L’Officiel notes that she has been earning major moolah for her television roles, such as the $1 million she made for each episode of “Big Little Lies” during the series’ second season.
