It’s a special day for Mariska Hargitay. The star of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is turning 62 years old!
Back in September 2025, the popular actress opened up to Harper’s Bazaar about being in her 60s.
“There were a lot of firsts for me at 61,” she said. “It’s a very exciting and unique time for me, and it keeps getting better in terms of what I’m capable of and what I expect for myself. I’ve never been here before, and I really like it here.”
See Mariska as a Baby
Hargitay was born on January 23, 1964, in Santa Monica, California, the daughter of actress Jayne Mansfield, who passed away in a car accident in 1967 when Hargitay was just three years old.
On July 1, 2025, Hargitay and HBO Documentary Films took to Instagram to share a picture of the “Law & Order” star as a baby being held by her famous mother to mark the release of “My Mom Jayne,” a documentary Hargitay made about Mansfield.
Mansfield, wearing a stylish red top and white pants in the photo, seems to be standing in a living room while spending time with her daughter. The little one can be seen wearing an adorable yellow dress and cute booties with fluffy pom-poms on top. Together, they’re a super sweet pair.
Mariska Is ‘Stronger Than [She’s] Ever Been’
Getty“I’m so excited. I announce it constantly,” Hargitay said while talking to People in January 2024 about being in her 60s. “I’m proud of it. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.”
“The age thing was never something I was scared of,” the star added. “I didn’t get cast [on SVU] until I was 35 and then the show kept going as I aged. At 45, we’d been on for ten years and I just met my husband [when Hermann had a guest role on the show.] The man of my dreams. I got married at 40. I had August [her eldest son] at 42. So it was like defying all the odds.”
“I won an Emmy [in 2006] and all these major things kept happening,” the star continued. “I didn’t take anything for granted. My beautiful children [she and Hermann adopted Amaya and Andrew in 2011.] And then in my 50’s, my foundation is on fire, and I’m on a show that matters, and I’m counting my lucky stars. How did I get here? And why does nobody care how old I am?”
