Martin Short was seen in a video captured by a fan who goes by @Chocoholicreader on TikTok making his brave return to the stage after taking a break from his comedy tour with Steve Martin following the tragic passing of his only daughter, Katherine.
Fans were thrilled to see Short back in action. One commented on the TikTok clip, “Love them both. Martin Short has experienced so much heartache in his life. He is such an inspiration to keep going and find the light and laughter in life.”
Another chimed in, “My favorite dance ever.”
The tour, which kicked off January 29, 2026, was temporarily halted after Katherine’s death, which was ruled a suicide, on February 23. As he sang and danced onstage beside his “Only Murders in the Building” costar, Short looked much happier than he did on March 29, when he was spotted out and about for the first time since the family tragedy.

Martin Short Has Shown Incredible Strength & Bounced Back from Several Personal Setbacks
Short has weathered an enormous amount of tragedy in his life. The 76-year-old lost both of his parents as well his oldest brother David all before he’d reached the age of 20.
Despite the early setbacks, Short went on to forge a successful showbiz career, unforgettably starring as the eccentric wedding planner to Steve Martinโs doting dad in the โFather of the Brideโ films, and the villainous Jack Frost in โThe Santa Clause 3,โ among many other projects.
Then in 2010, Short lost his wife Nancy Dolman, whom he married in 1980, to ovarian cancer. He explained to Larry King in an interview that his work is the “greatest healer” because it keeps him away from home, where the loss of a family member is more deeply felt.
