Arizona Couple Who Found Blood-Stained Glove & Rock Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home Speaks Out

The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie is now stretching into its third week, with loved ones still waiting for answers after authorities said she was abducted from her home near Tucson, Arizona.

Guthrie, the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Catalina Foothills residence in what investigators have described from the start as a kidnapping.

Detectives say they continue to pursue new leads as the case remains active. Her family has made heartfelt public pleas, asking anyone with information to come forward. As the investigation intensifies, a new development has drawn attention.

An Arizona couple told local media they found suspicious items in the desert about a mile from Guthrie’s home, prompting renewed scrutiny in the area and adding another layer of urgency to the search.

Couple Describes Finding Blood-Spotted Glove & Rock Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home: VIDEO

According to KVOA, the couple said they found two black gloves about 10 feet apart off Campbell Avenue on February 11. They described the gloves as torn and possibly stained.

“Sure enough, it was a black glove in the desert. It appeared to have looked like it was ripped. It also appeared to look like it had blood on it. There was two different colors. The blood was more towards the wrist side of the glove, and on the pointer finger, it looked like it was ripped,” they told the outlet.

The wife added, “It didn’t just look like a regular glove. It looked like this was a glove used for something that could’ve possibly been what they were looking for.”

The couple said they avoided touching the items out of concern that they might contaminate potential evidence. Instead, they photographed the scene and contacted law enforcement right away.

“And also from the glove, it looked like a blood drop on a rock underneath the glove was like dried blood or something. We didn’t move it or touch it. We immediately said, “We have to do something.” So I was like I will call the sheriff department,” the husband said. Deputies responded to the location and remained there into the early morning hours, the outlet reported.

Investigators Not Ruling Out Multiple Suspects

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Friday that investigators have not ruled out the possibility that multiple people could be connected to the case.

Authorities are continuing efforts to identify the masked individual seen on Guthrie’s doorbell camera.

The FBI recently released photos and video showing an armed person outside her home, appearing to interfere with a security camera shortly before she disappeared.

Detectives are also examining surveillance footage provided by nearby residents as they work to piece together movements in the neighborhood around the time she went missing.

DNA Testing and Ongoing Investigation

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that several gloves have been recovered in the area surrounding Guthrie’s neighborhood.

Officials have not said whether the items discovered by the couple are part of the evidence currently under review.

“We cannot confirm at this time. Detectives and agents have collected multiple gloves from the area, and analysis is part of the investigation,” the department told the outlet.

Investigators previously said DNA collected from other gloves did not produce matches in the FBI database. Authorities also noted that the DNA found on one glove did not match the evidence gathered inside Guthrie’s home.

As the search enters its 20th day, detectives continue to pursue new leads and analyze forensic evidence.

Guthrie’s family remains hopeful for answers, while law enforcement urges anyone with information to come forward.
