Nancy Guthrie Update: Chilling New Theory Suggests Suspect Is No Longer Alive

As the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its third month, a disturbing new theory suggests the perpetrator may no longer be alive.

In the new documentary “NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery,” Senior Correspondent Brian Entin takes a deeper dive into the case alongside leading criminal profiling experts Dr. Ann Burgess, Dr. Gary Brucato, and Dr. Casey Jordan.

In the clip obtained by Parade, Dr. Burgess suggests the abduction may have involved more than one person, including a “boss” who orchestrated the crime behind the scenes.

The renowned profiler also theorizes that the perpetrator in the Nancy Guthrie abduction may have already been killed by the boss.

“I just had a thought. That person [on Nancy’s stoop] may have been eliminated,” Dr. Burgess explains. “It was well-planned. They got away with it. And they pulled a type of case that we’ve never seen before, as far as we know.”

Meanwhile, criminal psychologist Dr. Gary Brucato suggests a broader structure behind Nancy’s disappearance.

“If he is caught, if he’s alive and is caught, he will lead down the spider web to the center,” Dr. Brucato adds, echoing the theory of a mastermind behind the scenes.

The expert continues, “That amateur hour kind of quality is interesting also, and suggests to me a difference in intelligence. Some schemer behind the scenes, and this character who is the sort of hired or asked to do this. I don’t believe this person worked alone… I think there is a little group of people.”

Expert Believes Suspect Knew Nancy Guthrie

Criminologist Dr. Casey Jordan also shares her theory that the suspect likely knew Nancy Guthrie.

“This person knew her. I don’t think she [Nancy Guthrie] knew this person,” Dr. Jordan explains. “It could have been somebody who saw her on the ‘Today Show’ with her daughter, Savannah.”

Meanwhile, Entin explains to Parade why the Nancy Guthrie case has captured so much public attention.

“I think initially it was because it was Savannah Guthrie’s mom, and there was sort of the celebrity element,” Entin explains. “But the more I’ve covered it, the more I actually think it’s because she’s an older woman, 84 years old, I think people like me, you relate to your parents getting older.”

The search for Nancy Guthrie has now entered its third month.

He continues, “There’s always this sense of uneasiness that someone’s gonna take advantage of them, or you think of the people who go to their houses, but it’s contractors or whether it’s a home health [aide], you’re always kind of on guard, even with the scammers now…people are always calling old people and scamming them. I think people connected to this, for that reason, because they thought of their own parents and how vulnerable they are, and it’s sort of this like fear that so many of us live with.”

“NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery” airs Wednesday, May 6, at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
