New details have emerged about the final hours of actress Hayden Panettiere after emergency responders were called to a South Carolina residence on Sunday.
A friend found Panettiere unresponsive inside a Greenville home and called 911 at 1:51 p.m., according to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZ. The outlet reported that the emergency call described a person in “cardiac arrest” and an “unresponsive female.”
Police officers and emergency medical workers responded to the home, where paramedics attempted to resuscitate the 36-year-old actress.
The new information comes as authorities continue investigating the circumstances of the former “Heroes” and “Nashville” star’s death.
Emergency Responders Attempted to Resuscitate Hayden Panettiere
Paramedics used advanced cardiac life support after arriving at the Greenville residence, according to law enforcement sources.
The emergency treatment can include CPR along with medications, breathing support and heart rhythm monitoring. Responders also performed chest compressions on Panettiere.
Their efforts were unsuccessful, and Panettiere was pronounced at 2:32 p.m., approximately 40 minutes after the initial emergency call.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that police responded to an incident involving Panettiere on Sunday and that an investigation remains open.
Police said there were no initial signs of foul play, and authorities did not consider the circumstances suspicious based on their preliminary findings.
The Greenville County coroner is expected to conduct an autopsy Monday to determine the cause and manner of Panettiere’s passing.
A source close to the actress also said she had complained about back pain during the past year. No connection between the reported pain and what happened Sunday has been established.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” the representative said. “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”
Panettiere began working professionally as a child and appeared on the daytime TV shows “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light.”
She later became widely known for playing Claire Bennet on “Heroes” before starring as Juliette Barnes on “Nashville.”
Her movie credits included “Remember the Titans,” “Raising Helen,” “Ice Princess” and “Scream 4.”

Away from her acting career, Panettiere was the mother of daughter Kaya, whom she welcomed in 2014 with former partner and Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Panettiere later spoke publicly about experiencing postpartum depression following Kaya’s birth as well as her struggles with addiction and her recovery.
The actress and Klitschko eventually separated, and Panettiere relinquished custody of Kaya while focusing on her recovery. She later spoke openly about that period in interviews.
