Super-Exciting Update in Search for the Next James Bond

Who do you think will (or should) be the next James Bond? If that’s a question that piques your interest, then you’ll be excited to find out that there’s been a major update when it comes to the quest to find the new 007.

Auditions for the Role of James Bond Have Officially Started

“The search for the next James Bond is underway,” Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement, according to Variety.

Indeed, “Amazon MGM Studios started auditioning actors for the part of 007 in the past few weeks,” Variety explained, while adding that they’ve brought in “Games of Thrones” casting pro Nina Gold “to find the man with the suaveness and danger necessary to replace Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming’s super-spy.”

In response to the news, fans we’re obviously thrilled. When Variety posted about the update on X, one person replied, “The best news ever! Now make sure you find one that will continue to keep the Bond Man in movies for years to come! 🎬💯❤️🫶”

Someone else offered an interesting idea, writing, “@AmazonMGMStudio I think you should start the next program with a pre film about the recruitment of the next 007 Agent. Cast a whole bunch of potential James Bonds and let the actors speak for themselves during filming. Whoever does the best.. Write the ending for them. 🤔🤓”

Unfortunately, if you were hoping to get a little info on who might be up for the role at the moment, Amazon added, “While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

There have been plenty of names mentioned when it comes to who might be the next James Bond. In fact, People noted 16 potential actors, including Henry Cavill, Joe Alwyn and Regé-Jean Page.

“The rumour mill has turned out names as varied as Idris Elba, James Norton, Theo James, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson since the Craig era came to a close,” according to GQ. “Elba was long thought to be the frontrunner; Taylor-Johnson once seemed like a dead cert.”

“As it stands, all bets are on [Dua Lip’s fiancé] Callum Turner, who has been the favourite for the last six months, but other big names have also done the rounds,” GQ notes. “There’s Harris Dickinson, who is soon to play John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ Beatles films; Australian it boy Jacob Elordi, who just bagged his first Oscar nomination for Frankenstein, and stole hearts as Heathcliff in February’s Wuthering Heights; even Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, has been reported to be in the running.”

GQ adds that “[t]here have also been some slightly more rogue shouts, and some of the older faces who have long lingered in the conversation remain stubbornly in the bookies’ odds. Only one thing is for certain: we can try to speculate on who will pick up the PPK, but even now, no one really has a clue.” Except, perhaps, for the casting team, which is now actively on the hunt for the next James Bond.
