Who Won Best Supporting Actress Oscars 2026?
Amy Madigan took the trophy for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, which was presented by “Avatar” star Zoe Saldana.
The 75-year-old took the stage to say, “This is great! Everybody’s asking me ‘What’s different about this time?’ What’s different is I’ve got this little gold guy!”
She said despite being advised not to “rattle off” names the audience won’t know, she made sure to thank several special people, including the film’s writer and director Zach Cregger.
She also shouted out a producer named Mary, as well as people named Pam and Mike at Warner Brothers. “The most important is my beloved Ed, who’s been with me forever. None of this would mean anything if he wasn’t by my side,” she said, referencing
Madigan finished her speech with, “Thank you very much, I’m very overwhelmed.”
Who Won Best Supporting Actor Oscars 2026?
Kieran Culkan presented the trophy for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, which went to Sean Penn. Penn did not attend, so there was no speech.
“Sean Penn couldn’t be here this evening, or didn’t want to, so I’ll be accepting the award on his behalf,” Culkin explained.
Town & Country dived into the possible reason Sean Penn didn’t attend the Oscars. It could have something to do with a loss of interest in Hollywood. He told W magazine in January, “Eighteen years ago, when I did Milk, was the last time that I enjoyed the work. But you want to be participating in something that is of your current interest, and with people who are surprising. Because of Paul’s movie, I’m in a stage of liking acting. But I’ve always got carpentry to fall back on. And surfing.”

And I was like, ‘No, I am going to be a great actress. One day, I am going to be a great director.’” She said of the Oscars that even if she went home empty handed, she’d have “won” by simply being in the room.

He previously told Variety stepping into the role of Frankenstein was “kind of terrifying,” but said Guillermo del Toro’s directing, which he called “genius,” helped him embrace the part.
