Rachel Bilson took to her Instagram story to post some cute pics of her 10-year-old daughter, Briar Rose, on June 27. The mother and daughter took in an Olivia Rodrigo concert in London’s Hyde Park, and it looks as though they had the best time.
Bilson’s story included snaps of Briar Rose sporting a long black tee shirt and purple bows in her braided hair. Olivia Rodrigo was tagged in the pic and later shared the photo to her own story.
Bilson, who shares Briar Rose with her ex Hayden Christensen, doesn’t show her daughter’s face on social media, covering it with heart emojis. But it was clear Briar Rose was enjoying the show. In one pic she is sitting on her mom’s shoulders and in another Bilson herself is seen dancing, with the caption, “Moms caught in the wild.”
All About Briar Rose
Bilson and Christensen began dating in 2007 and welcomed their daughter in 2014. Their relationship didn’t stand the test of time, however, and the couple split three years later in 2017.
But they remained close enough to successfully co-parent Briar Rose. “Communication is key and just being on the same page, so everything’s about the kid,” Bilson shared with People.
Briar Rose seems to have caught the acting bug from her parents, although Bilson is hesitant to let her go down that path. “She’s already said she wants to act and I’m like, ‘How do we handle this?’” Bilson shared on the “Betches Moms” podcast in 2021. She added, “I think to keep that away from her as long as possible is our top choice …”
Whether or not Briar Rose follows in her parents’ footsteps, Bilson is proud that she and her daughter have such a close bond. “She is very open and will talk to me about things or what kids say at school,” the “Hart of Dixie” actor told People. “It’s just really nice that we have that dialogue.”
Why Bilson Likely Won’t Have More Children
In the past, Bilson has been open about her difficult journey to motherhood. “I’ve had miscarriages. So I’ve had losses,” she revealed on her “Broad Ideas” podcast. She clarified that the miscarriages happened “early on” in her pregnancies.
The star of “The O.C.” seems content to be raising Briar Rose as an only child, and her daughter likes it that way. “She’s like, ‘No, you’re not having a baby, Mom.,’” Bilson shared on her podcast. “Well, it’s just been us … so she’s very accustomed to our little situation.”
