Just one week after the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, the legendary actor’s family has come together.
TMZ reports that they gathered at Rob’s sister Annie’s house, with his younger brother Lucas seen arriving.
“It’s unclear if this is an informal celebration or simply a family gathering to discuss the obviously unique circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths,” the outlet wrote.
Rob Reiner’s Closest Friends Are Standing By His Children
After this tragedy, in which Rob’s son Nick has been arrested and charged with killing his parents, the actor’s friends are showing support for his other children.
PEOPLE reported that Billy Crystal and Albert Brooks are among the people who have been there for his kids.
“Rob and Michele were beloved in Hollywood and their friends like Billy Crystal and Albert Brooks are truly like family and fiercely protective,” a source told the outlet, who added that Jake and Romy “will never be alone as they try to face this.”
“They are being incredibly strong and have a huge support system they can lean on,” they continued.
And with that, the source also provided some additional insight into how the Jake and Romy are dealing with this horrible tragedy.
“It’s of course been a huge shock to the system. This nightmare came out of nowhere for them, but they’ve been surrounded with support since the second they found out,” they said to PEOPLE.
Rob and Michele Reiner ‘Tried So Hard’ To Help Nick Reiner
GettyAn Insider who spoke with PEOPLE, detailed the extent that Rob and Michele went to try and help their son with his substance abuse struggles. Specifically, they “tried so hard already for years” to help Nick, but he “didn’t take the support seriously.”
Another insider told the outlet, “At the end of the day, Nick didn’t take the help seriously. This was true for years and years. His issues were far, far out of his parents’ control.”
“Nick lied a lot. He was unreliable, but he was also convincing and intelligent,” the insider added. “His family was empathetic to how much his struggles contributed to his behavior. They never lost hope in him, even when he was scaring them or making their lives harder.”
A very sad time for the Reiners….but there is one important that keeps being left out..what about Tracy Reiner? Everyone is talking about how they are going to be there for the other children but not one made mention to Tracy ! I don’t think that is fair!
Tracy doesn’t want to make any public comments at this time, even though Twitter has “quoted” her, and she’s pissed about that.
Sadly, even if the drug addict is a family member — a child or a sibling – you have to offer them help away from you. The drugs poison their soul and are, when they’re addicted, the ONLY thing an addict cares about.
What nick did was horrible and one day he will be clear enough to remember it all. But… this is a very sick man who needs severe mental health help !! Not prison.
I agree & after 18 attempts at highly reputable establishments to help him, but we’re not 100% successful – it’s clear his mental health problems require successful meds and an on-going physician & forever home where he can get consistent help as he is obviously a danger to himself, his loved ones and society as well. Obviously, chances cannot be taken when it comes to cases such as this! For those who question what & how he was treated, etc. please do not judge unless you’ve been through this situation. It’s far more difficult, intense and all-consuming than one could ever possibly imagine!🙏
