Legendary actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were tragically killed in their home on Sunday, Dec. 14, and the medical examiner has now released the cause of death three days after their passing.
The two died from “multiple sharp force injuries,” according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. They also determined the manner of death to be “homicide.”
This comes after the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, faces murder charges in the deaths of his parents and appeared in court on Wednesday, Dec. 17, having arrived in” a blue sleeveless vest and shackles, was seated behind glass in court and stared blankly as his lawyer, Alan Jackson, declined to enter a plea for his client,” according to PEOPLE.
The arraignment has been pushed back to January 7, according to the outlet.
Rob and Michele’s other children, Romy and Jake, also released a statement about their parents passing.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends,” the family said in a statement to TMZ on December 17. “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.”
“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Nick Reiner Admitted To Feeling Like He Was In The Shadow Of His Father
During an appearance on a podcast in 2016, Nick admitted that it was hard for him while growing up as he had a famous father and grandfather. Feeling in the shadow of the two is what led to him abusing drugs, he explained.
“I had no identity, and I had no passions,” he said. “And I think the reason I had no identity was because I have a famous dad and a famous grandpa, and that fame sort of informs who you are. So I wanted to edge out my own identity with a more rebellious, angry, drug-addicted sort of persona.”

GettyDouglas Shaffer, who was the producer of the film ‘Being Charlie,’ which was directed by Rob and was co-written by Nick, opened up about working on the film with the duo as well as his reaction to this news.
“It was just a good experience for everybody involved,” Shaffer told Page Six. “And so that’s why when all this stuff came up, it was just complete and total shock.”
“Nick… I thought the demons were like exorcised,” Shaffer continued. “After the movie, I felt like, ‘Okay, he’s on the up and up. This is good. He’s doing good.’ I had no idea these other issues were happening. So it was a shock. I mean, I thought it was a home invasion at first when I heard. I had no idea.”

He chose to adopt her and she deserves respect because that was her legal father She never had brothers and sister She was an only child They were her half siblings.
Utterly pathetic and disgusting that his own son would inflict this pain on his parents and family, what satisfaction did he receive by harming his parents. That A BIG SIN in Gods eyes and I hope he rots in jail. I hope they make him suffer the way his parents suffered. No mercy for he gave his parents any mercy

No parent should see the child they brought into the world turn their rage into an attack like this. None of us can imagine this horror. No one knows what happened day in and day out behind those closed doors.
Rob’s political views were very hateful against Trump. He didn’t miss an opportunity to spew. He even commented on his disappointment that Trump’s life was spared when he turned his head. For this I don’t respect Rob but for the pain and horror of this tragedy, I send my prayers.
