Life Away From the Spotlight After Deep, Devastating Loss
GettyRandall died in August 2023 at age 57 following a private three-year battle with ALS. His family confirmed his passing in a statement shared with People.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS.”
They added, “Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”
The family continued, “We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.”
“At this time, we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”
Bullock first met Randall in 2015 when he photographed her son Louis’ birthday celebration, as reported by People. Their relationship developed quietly over the years.
As per photos shared by The Daily Mail in 2023, the pair exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas, but they never legally married. They were last seen together publicly in 2020.
Career Pause, Reunions & What’s Next
GettyBullock’s most recent screen appearance came in the 2022 adventure comedy “The Lost City.” While promoting the film, she openly shared her decision to step away from Hollywood and focus on her personal life.
“I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions, and I know it,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
She explained that she no longer wanted to “be beholden to anyone’s schedule other than my own,” adding, “I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.”
Although she has largely stayed out of the public eye, Bullock has surfaced on a few meaningful occasions.
Late last year, she was spotted running errands in Los Angeles ahead of Christmas.
Around the same time, she reunited backstage with longtime friend and former co-star Keanu Reeves at his Broadway production of “Waiting For Godot,” more than three decades after their collaboration on “Speed.”
As per a report in The Daily Mail, a source described the actress as “incredibly sweet and kind to everyone she met,” noting, “And watching her with Keanu, it felt like no time had passed at all.”
Looking ahead, Bullock is preparing for a return to the big screen. She is set to reunite with Reeves in an upcoming romantic thriller from Amazon MGM Studios.
She will also reprise her role as Sally Owens in the sequel to “Practical Magic,” alongside Nicole Kidman. Production wrapped last fall, and the film is slated for release on September 18, 2026.
For now, Bullock’s rare public appearance reflects a gentle step forward, as she continues to balance motherhood with a thoughtful return to the world she once dominated.
