Season 51 of “Saturday Night Live” is coming to a close, and the series just dropped news of a star-studded lineup to finish out the year.
The late-night television series shared news regarding its final three shows of the season on its Instagram page. A star-studded lineup of hosts includes an Oscar winner and a legendary SNL star, a major pop star, today’s hottest country artist, and a Beatles legend.
Who is Hosting The Final Shows of Season 51 of SNL?
The official Instagram page for “Saturday Night Live” shared details of the hosts and musical guests for this season’s final shows.
Beginning May 2, Olivia Rodrigo will pull double duty as both host and musical guest. Oscar-winner Matt Damon hosts on May 9, with musical guest Noah Kahan.
To close out the season, SNL welcomes back legendary cast member Will Ferrell as host. Adding to the excitement is Beatles legend, Paul McCartney.
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement over the news of this exciting lineup of stars. They shared their remarks in the post’s comments section.
“May is for legends,” one follower wrote. “YESSS PAUL MCCARTNEY,” another fan penned.
“Olivia Rodrigo on SNL double-duty is everything,” claimed a third Instagram user. “Noah Kahan and Matt Damon, UR Kiddingggg,” exclaimed a fourth social media fan.
Have Any of These Legends Hosted or Performed on SNL Before?
Olivia Rodrigo has performed on SNL twice, making her debut during Season 46 in 2021. She returned to the series as a performer in 2023 for Season 49.
Matt Damon hosted SNL for the first time in 2002. He made a 2011 cameo, followed by a Season 44 appearance for the show’s cold open in 2018.
Noah Kahan made his SNL debut in 2023 during Season 49. This will be his second appearance on the late-night series.
Will Ferrell was an SNL cast member from 1995 through 2002. He first returned as a host for Season 30 in 2005, followed by a second hosting gig four years later for Season 34.
In 2012, Ferrell hosted a third time, followed by 2018 and 2019, where he was inducted into the five-timers club. This exclusive club are hosts who have hosted the series five times or more.
Paul McCartney first appeared on SNL as a musical guest in 1980. He appeared a second time in 1993, followed by 2010 and once again in 2012. This appearance will mark his fifth time performing on the late-night sketch series.
“Saturday Night Live” airs live on Saturdays at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC. The series airs the next day on Peacock.
