There Have Been Several Cast Changes
Michaels previously stated that there would be cast changes ahead of season 51 of “Saturday Night Live.” However, many fans of the series have felt caught off guard by how swiftly the announcements have been made regarding which of the cast members are leaving the show.
According to Today, one of the beloved “Saturday Night Live” stars who won’t return for season 51 is Heidi Gardner. She began on the series in 2017. Michael Longfellow is also not returning after joining in 2022. The same is true for Devon Walker, who joined in 2022. Fans also won’t see Emil Wakim on season 51 of SNL. He joined the show in 2024.
Despite the announcement, NBC has not yet confirmed the official cast for the upcoming season, which is set to start on October 4. Before then, there could be more changes, with some current cast members potentially leaving and new ones being added.
It’s worth noting that the show is coming off a hot streak. According to Deadline, SNL’s 50th season brought the show its highest ratings in three years.
