Fans of “The Office” were treated to a surprise reunion at the 2025 US Open when Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, and Rainn Wilson shared a selfie together during the men’s final in New York.
Kaling and Novak, both 46, sat side by side in the stands at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Sept. 7 to watch Carlos Alcaraz face Jannik Sinner.
‘The Office’ Cast Members Reunite With Selfie
Novak posted a group shot of the reunion on Instagram, delighting fans, and captioning the post, “Photobombed by @rainnwilson,” as Wilson leaned into the frame.
Kaling also highlighted the sweet moment on social media, posting on Instagram Stories that she was with her “two best friends” — Novak and Bruce Springsteen, who happened to be seated just in front of them.
Wilson, 59, who famously played Dwight Schrute on “The Office,” joined his former co-stars in what quickly became one of the most talked-about selfies of the day. On the beloved sitcom, which ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013, Novak portrayed Ryan Howard and Kaling played Kelly Kapoor, while also contributing behind the scenes as writers and producers.
Other familiar faces from the series were also spotted, although they did not take part in the epic snapshot. John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert, attended the match alongside wife Emily Blunt.
Kaling and Novak’s friendship has remained strong since their days on “The Office.” The two previously dated in the mid-2000s but have since remained close, with Novak serving as godfather to Kaling’s children. Earlier this year, Kaling described Novak as an “important and integral part of my family” during her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. In return, Novak called her “an incredible mother of three.”

Kaling later shared a video highlighting her food and drink picks from the day, including the classic Honey Deuce cocktail, caviar chicken nuggets, and waffle fries.
During the match, Alcaraz, 22, defeated Sinner in four sets, securing his second US Open championship and sixth Grand Slam overall. Kaling, a tennis fan, was also spotted earlier this summer at the French Open final in Paris, where Alcaraz again faced Sinner in a record-breaking match.
The reunion selfie sparked excitement among fans online, adding to ongoing nostalgia for “The Office.” Former cast members often speak about the cast’s continued bond, with Ellie Kemper, who played Erin Hannon, telling People that the cast is “very much connected still” and that they maintain an active group chat.
