Vera Wang continues to defy expectations of aging. The 76-year-old designer shared a striking selfie on Instagram while attending the US Open in New York City on Sunday, Sept. 7.

In the caption, Wang wrote, “APRES TENNIS…🎾. CIPRIANI 👏🙏🤍🍝🍸,” signaling that she enjoyed a post-match meal. She later joked with fans, adding in the comments, “HEY GUYS. GREAT LIGHTING = CIPRIANI !!!!!”
The playful remark set off a wave of praise from followers. “SHE DOES NOT AGE,” one user commented, while another wrote, “It’s not the lighting Vera! It’s you.” A third admirer added, “What a gift to look like this in this age😍👏.”
Vera Wang on Aging, Celebration, & Staying Creative
Wang has long been candid about her approach to aging and celebrating milestones. She turned 76 on June 27 and marked the occasion with a lavish dinner in Paris at Le Relais Plaza. Photos on Instagram showed her surrounded by loved ones at a candlelit table, where she blew out candles atop a chic cake. For the occasion, she wore a daring black minidress paired with knee-high boots and a glittering gold tattoo of the number “76” on her arm.
Speaking to People earlier this year about her philosophy on birthdays, Wang explained why she continues to celebrate in style. “After my 75th last year, I said, ‘Maybe, you don’t have to celebrate after 75,'” she recalled. “A lot of my friends don’t want to. They say, ‘I’m too old.’ I said, ‘It’s not about being old. It’s about being here and living, and we should celebrate that. But you have to celebrate every year that you’re alive. That’s just how I feel.”
Even with her milestone birthdays, Wang shows no signs of slowing down. Although she sold her namesake brand to WHP Global in 2024, she continues to serve as founder and chief creative officer, staying closely involved with creative direction and collaborations, including partnerships with Jared Jewelers and Zales.
Reflecting on her career, Wang has drawn comparisons to icons who continued working late into their lives. “I think maybe a little bit like Warren Buffett [age 93] or Queen Elizabeth II [who ruled the British monarchy for seven decades until she died at age 96], I’m just going to keep prodding on because I feel as though I’m able to do my best work more and more,” she told People.
Her appearance at the US Open—and her viral selfie—reminded fans once again that Wang remains not only a fashion icon, but also a symbol of resilience and reinvention.
