Radio host Howard Stern remembered Hollywood icon Rob Reiner during his Monday, December 15, show on SiriusXM.
Stern began by stating he was “really really upset” when he heard the news of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, passing away.
“I just thought the world of this guy,” Stern added. He reminisced about the couple of times he interviewed the “Spinal Tap” director.
“I gotta tell you, from my vantage point, he just seemed like the most loving guy,” he told listeners.
Stern Praises Reiner’s Impressive Career
He praised Rob Reiner’s talent, as he was able to step out of his famous father’s shadow. His dad, Carl Reiner, starred in a plethora of films and TV shows, with one of the most iconic being the beloved “Dick Van Dyke Show.”
“What a pressure to have your father be Carl Reiner. And so Rob going into show business is like very, very difficult,” Stern said.
Stern went on to note he starred as “Meadhead” in the classic sitcom “All in the Family.” Stern called him “fabulous” in the role. Rob Reiner ended up winning two Emmy’s for the role.
The radio host said that if Rob Reiner only had that one role, he still would have been a legend.
Stern went on the list the long list of hit films Rob Reiner directed. The list included “Spinal Tap,” “Stand By Me,” “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” and “Misery.”
“The guy was a genius,” Stern continued in his touching tribute. He added that whenever he saw him on a talk show, he always seemed like he was very down to earth.
“I just thought the world of him,” Stern added.
