Vin Diesel Gives a Hopeful Update on the Final ‘Fast & Furious’ Movie

The final “Fast & Furious” film, “Fast Forever,” has been in development for quite some time. In the last few weeks, Vin Diesel has teased the script for the upcoming movie, calling it one of the best he’s read. Now, the actor is revealing that filming is set to begin in the coming months.

Diesel attended the 25th anniversary screening of “The Fast and the Furious” on August 17. While on the red carpet, he spoke to Variety, where the reporter mentioned the script he’d raved about and asked when filming would begin.

He said, “We start filming in December.”

After his initial declaration that filming on “Fast Forever” would begin in December, Diesel added a bit more context. According to him, “If I can make good on the requests from the studio.”

After that, the actor spoke more about the process behind getting the final movie up and running. According to him, “I’m in a good place, though. I had to go through four sets of writers, four years of development, to get to something that I felt would be worthy of a finale. And when I read the script a couple of weeks ago, [I cried].”

From there, the reporter asked, “Is it really the finale?” He then noted that Diesel previously stated that there would be “no sequels.” Diesel took the comment in stride, jokingly admitting he had said there would be no sequels after the blockbuster success of the original “Fast and the Furious.”


He Recently Opened Up About The Script

Diesel took to Instagram on August first to share a trailer for the 25th anniversary screening of “The Fast and the Furious.” Alongside it, he posted a caption that not only teased the release date for “Fast Forever,” but also discussed the script for the upcoming movie.

He said, “You have no idea… When March 17th 2028 comes… you will thank God you got to see the First one in the theaters this summer.” The actor continued, “I just read the Fast Forever script by Mike Leslie. It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying…”

However, based on his latest comments, it seems Universal Pictures still requires changes before filming begins on the new movie.

While at the “Fast and the Furious” screening, Diesel also gave an interview to ExtraTV. When asked about the “secret sauce” that keeps the fanbase loyal, he highlighted that integrity was a major driving factor.

According to him, “Integrity. Fighting when no one sees. Being willing to go against the studio to fight for integrity. Not just rolling off and doing a movie when the first script comes in.” From there, he went on to highlight the importance of taking the production process seriously, noting that “because you’re making a movie for people that have adopted the concept of family.”

Toward the end of the interview, Diesel stated that the core of the franchise is “brotherhood,” “love,” and “family.” Regarding “Fast Forever,” Louis Leterrier is set to direct.
