Alexis Bellino is clearing up one of the biggest assumptions surrounding her relationship with Shannon Beador.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” alum found herself at the center of a complicated RHOC storyline when she returned to the franchise during Season 18 while dating Shannon’s ex-boyfriend, John Janssen. The situation immediately put the two women at odds, with some viewers assuming Alexis had started dating the ex of someone she previously knew or even considered a friend.
According to Alexis, that wasn’t the case at all.
During a recent appearance on Rachel Uchitel’s “Miss Understood” podcast, Alexis revealed that she and Shannon had essentially no relationship before John entered the picture.
Alexis Bellino Says She and Shannon Beador Were Never Friends
When asked whether she had a relationship with Shannon before returning to RHOC, Alexis didn’t hesitate.
“No,” Alexis said. “I had never formally met Shannon except when she was a little tipsy right before when she got Housewives and she came… [and] kind of introduced herself. And I did not even know at that time that she was going to be a Housewife and none of it had registered. And we find out a year later that she got it, and then I never talked to her, never saw her, never filmed a show with her, really.”
Alexis went on to explain why she believes viewers connected the two women despite their paths barely crossing.
“We had the TV show, and we were both OC Housewives,” she said. “So they thought… So it’s actually the year I got let go, in 2008. 2009 was the year she started because that’s what everybody thinks, is because they were so close of me leaving and her… me exiting and her coming on, that we actually overlap, but we never did.”
Alexis said she was repeatedly encouraged to let the situation play out rather than immediately trying to correct every assumption about their history.
“It does just take time, to be honest,” she added. “I mean, you know that, being in the public eye. It just, sometimes misconceptions are there, and then… people go, ‘Oh, okay. I don’t believe that anymore. Now I get it.’”
Alexis Bellino’s Relationship With John Janssen Put Her Back in the RHOC Spotlight
Alexis’ relationship with John inevitably connected her to Shannon in a way their Housewives histories never had.
Shannon and John dated for several years before splitting in 2022. Alexis later began dating John, and their romance became a major storyline when she returned to RHOC as a friend of the cast for Season 18.
The timing and circumstances created immediate tension between Alexis and Shannon, but Alexis’ latest comments make her position clear: Whatever happened between the women after she began seeing John, she says there was no friendship between them for her to betray in the first place.
Alexis and John went on to get engaged in August 2024 after nine months of dating. The couple later tied the knot in October 2025.
Her latest comments also offer some context for a storyline that became much bigger than Alexis’ original connection to Shannon. While both women had been part of the same Housewives franchise, Alexis maintains their shared RHOC history was essentially where their connection ended before John.
