Vicki Gunvalson is done listening to speculation about her daughter Briana Culberson’s marriage.
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” star addressed the rumors while attending “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th” launch event in New York City, making it clear she believes the online conversation surrounding Briana and husband Ryan Culberson has gone too far.
“There’s some bad crap on the internet,” Gunvalson told Us Weekly. “Ryan’s a perfect husband. Briana is a perfect wife. They have a perfect family, so everybody needs to shut up.”
The OG of the OC added that the rumors have been especially difficult for Briana, who has largely stepped away from reality television and now focuses on her family and online business. Briana and Ryan have been married for nearly 15 years.
“I mean, it’s really made Briana upset,” Gunvalson said. “I just hope it all goes away because she’s got an online business and she’s very respected. And Ryan’s a great guy.”
Michael Wolfsmith Recently Raised Questions About the Family Dynamic
Gunvalson’s comments come less than a week after her son, Michael Wolfsmith, opened up about his relationship with Briana during the July 30 episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County.”
Michael revealed he hasn’t seen his sister in nearly eight years, explaining on Instagram that when he previously hoped to visit while living closer to Oklahoma, Briana told him it wasn’t a good time because of Ryan.
“A couple years ago, I said I wanted to visit when I was fairly close to Oklahoma, and she said it wasn’t a good time because of her husband, who I don’t get along with very well,” he wrote.
He later clarified that he, Briana and their mom remain in a group chat together and still have “friendly personal convos,” adding that he simply wishes they could spend more time together in person.
Vicki Says Briana and Ryan Are Happy
Despite the renewed attention on the family’s relationships, Gunvalson insisted there is no trouble in Briana and Ryan’s marriage.
“They have four children. They’re happy. I’m happy. My daughter’s happy. That’s all I could want for my children,” she said.
Gunvalson also suggested some of Ryan’s past controversies have been unfairly resurfaced years later, referencing an infamous “Real Housewives of Orange County” moment from more than a decade ago.
“I mean, there was a moment in time where he got back from war and he got angry at one person one time,” she said. “But they’re now making something out of that. That was over 15 years ago.”
Ryan, a former Marine, famously clashed with former Lydia McLaughlin’s mother, Judy Stirling, during a 2013 episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” McLaughlin is a former RHOC housewife who appeared on Season 8 and then returned for Season 12. Ryan later apologized for his behavior.
Gunvalson emphasized that after more than two decades in the Bravo spotlight, she’s far more interested in celebrating her family’s happiness than revisiting old drama.
