“RHOBH” star Denise Richards reunited with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen at the premiere of Netflix’s “aka Charlie Sheen” documentary. The former couple shared an embrace that was caught on camera, and appeared to be happy to see one another.
Richards took to Instagram to post pics of the event, commenting on what it felt like to share the red carpet with Sheen again.
“We both looked at each other on the red carpet and just laughed. Charlie asked, ‘Is it 2002?’ and I said, ‘It sure feels like it.’ Who would have thought?” Richards captioned the series of photos and video that prove she still has love for her ex.
“What a journey we’ve had- so many ups and downs. But when life gets tough, deep down we both know we can count on each other,” Richards continued. “I’m so proud of him, and truly honored he asked me to be part of his story. Congrats, Charles ❤️”
Inside Richards & Sheen’s Relationship Over the Years
GettyDenise Richards and Charlie Sheen met while filming the rom-com “Good Advice” in 2000 and tied the knot in 2002. The couple welcomed two daughters together, Sam in 2004, and Lola in 2005.
While Richards was pregnant with Lola, she filed for divorce from Sheen citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple made an attempt to reconcile after their second child was born, but it wasn’t meant to be. “I don’t think this relationship (between Richards and Sheen) is going to work,” a source told People at the time. The divorce was finalized in 2006.
Where Richards & Sheen Stand Today
Although the years following their divorce were difficult, Richards and Sheen seem to be in a much better place now. In February, Richards spoke to People about her Bravo series “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things,” and shared that Sheen was all for it.
“He’s been supportive from day one,” Richards revealed. “He saw the trailer and sent me such a wonderful sweet positive text,” she continued. “I was actually really surprised. It meant a lot to me.”
Sheen has now been sober for 17 years, and his new documentary details his struggles with substance issues and other aspects of his life. Richards is currently going through a struggle of her own as her husband Aaron Phypers filed for divorce in July.
Richards has been candid about the divorce, telling fans in an Instagram video, “This has been a very, very, very difficult time. It’s so hard to go through a divorce … I never thought I’d get divorced again, this is why I always say ‘never say never.'”
