If there’s one thing the ladies of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” can usually agree on, it’s shopping. In season 15 of the show, however, longtime friends Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley ran into friction when Richards felt Kemsley went overboard on the retail therapy during a girls’ trip to the Hamptons.
Now, in a preview of part one of the reunion set to air Thursday, April 23, Kemsley is standing by her decision to treat herself.
New Cast Member Rachel Zoe Played a Part
Season 15 of RHOBH added Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe, a major trendsetter in the 2000s, to the cast. Although Zoe has moved on from working directly with clients like Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz, and Nicole Richie, she has remained a pop culture fixture, particularly for Bravo fans. She starred in her own reality series on the channel, “The Rachel Zoe Project” from 2007 to 2013.
Zoe invited Richards and Kemsley to a weekend away in the Hamptons, hoping the former close friends could reconcile. Shopping was a natural activity for Zoe to turn to as a hostess, and Kemsley filled shopping bags, in part, because, by her logic, it would be rude not to.
“I spent $4,000 in one of Rachel’s friend’s shops that they cleared for us to shop,” said Kemsley. Inside the boutique, Zoe offered her coveted styling advice to her new friend for free. Kemsley reasoned that the offer was too good to pass up.
“Nobody bought anything but me,” said the Beverly Beach founder. “I didn’t want us to go into that shop and not buy anything. They had cute things. I can afford to spend $4,000.”
Kyle and Dorit Are Both Starting New Chapters
Longtime Housewives fans may feel a bit confused as to why shopping, of all things, has caused controversy this season, but it goes deeper than investing in a chic new wardrobe.
In season 15, Richards and Kemsley are handling their respective divorces very differently. Dorit filed for divorce from businessman Paul Kemsley in 2025 after 10 years of marriage and has been very open about the struggles of co-parenting and managing her finances. Her memoir on the subject, “Unburdened,” is set to be released June 2.
Richards, meanwhile, separated from her husband of 27 years, Mauricio Umansky, in 2023, but has not filed for divorce and has tried to put forth a rosy picture of their new modern family. The actress-turned-reality star had advised Kemsley to avoid airing details of her divorce and to keep her spending under control, as the future remains uncertain. Following the now-famous Hamptons shopping spree, Richards described Kemsley’s behavior to cast member Bozoma Saint John as “erratic.”
However, Kemsley has not been convinced that Richards is truly looking out for her. “I can afford to spend $4,000. I’m very lucky to,” Kemsley says, undeterred in the new reunion clip. “Being judged by you, having you go and speak to the girls, the group about, ‘That’s a lot of money she’s spending.’ Kyle, especially, from you.”
RHOBH fans will have to wait and see over the course of the three-part reunion whether or not Richards and Kemsley can make amends and go back to being shopping buddies.
