The cast of “Real Housewives of Potomac” is gearing up for the premiere of its 10th season on Bravo. However, one staple of the show who won’t be returning is Mia Thornton, who initially joined the series in season six. Now, she’s making a bold statement about her divorce from Gordon Thornton.
Thornton took to her Instagram account on September 12 to seemingly confirm that her divorce was finalized. She posted a picture of herself on the platform wearing a classy white ensemble. The caption for the post began, “Divorced, but not defeated. My heart is still full, my faith unshaken, and my future wide open.”
She continued, “Divorce does not define me. Reinvention does. Watch me rise higher, love deeper, and live freer than ever before.” The former “Real Housewives of Potomac” star married Thornton in 2012. She confirmed that they were separated in 2023, but he continued appearing on the show until her exit in 2025.
Thornton Bravely Revealed the Breaking Point in Her Marriage
Thornton chronicled her issues with her then-husband while on “The Real Housewives of Potomac.” This includes moving on with her now-former boyfriend, INC, with whom she split in 2025. However, the reality television star revealed the breaking point in her marriage to Page Six in 2024.
She stated, “I want to say my breaking point was when he publicly decided to shame me.” Thornton continued, “And I said, ‘OK, this is not what we’re doing.’ And I filed. Yeah, I did because I’m like, ‘Let’s go ahead and get this clock rolling.'” She added, “I just don’t want to be a part of it.”
Regarding Thornton publicly shaming her, she’s referring to his interview with TMZ, in which he accused her of being dishonest. He sat down with the outlet in 2023.
She continued, “I’m trying to reel him in, and we need to work together as a family. We have these beautiful babies that we’re raising, and being a mom is No. 1 for me.” Thornton then said, “And I’m very proud to hold that title of being Supermom. And we have happy kids. I want them to stay happy.”
She Announced Her Exit from ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ in 2025
Thornton joined “The Real Housewives of Potomac” in 2021 for the show’s sixth season. However, season 9 became her last as she announced her exit in April 2025. This came after she departed the reunion early.
She said on Instagram, “With every new season comes a new beginning, and I have some news to share. My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season.”
Thornton went on, “The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories. This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride. Big things are coming…”
