Kyle Richards Reveals Daughter Portia Umansky’s College Decision After Lengthy Search

Kyle Richards is officially entering a new chapter as a mom.

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star revealed that her youngest daughter, Portia Umansky, has decided where she’ll be heading to college this fall — marking a major milestone for both the family and longtime viewers who have watched her grow up on screen.

After more than a year of touring schools and weighing her options, Portia has made her choice.

Portia Umansky Lands on University of Colorado Boulder

Kyle shared the news on Instagram Stories over the weekend, posting a photo of Portia alongside a graphic confirming she’ll be attending the University of Colorado Boulder, where she plans to study communications.

“Congratulations @portia_umansky!!! Love you so much and so proud of you,” Kyle wrote.

The decision follows an extensive college search that included visits to schools like Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Miami — underscoring just how much thought went into the final call.

Kyle also talked about Portia leaving for college, weren’t we just having her birthday party where LVP walked the emu through her house? I guess that house now belongs to Amanda Frances. 🎥: Amazon Live, 2/3/2026 #fyp #bravo #bravotv #peacock #rhobh

Portia’s decision also reflects the family’s existing connection to Colorado.

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky have long spent time in Aspen, where they own a home and frequently travel with their daughters. Choosing a school in Boulder keeps Portia in a state that already feels familiar — and within relatively easy reach for family visits.

Kyle previously spoke about how involved the entire family had been in the college decision process.

“Our dinner conversations are about which school she should apply to and what she’s going to write for her personal statement,” she said in a prior interview. “All the family [are] weighing in on where she should apply [and] what’s the best state for her to move to that we could all visit her all the time.”

Kyle Richards Opened Up About Letting Go

Back in March, Kyle appeared on an Amazon Live stream and shared what mattered most to her as Portia weighed her options.

“I just want her to be happy,” Kyle said. “All of my daughters went so far away. I’d love a two-hour flight to see her, because it’s gonna be rough on all of us.”

Portia is Kyle’s youngest daughter and the only child she shares with Mauricio. Her older sisters — Farrah, Alexia, and Sophia — have already entered adulthood, making this transition especially emotional for the family.

A Full-Circle Moment for RHOBH Fans

For longtime viewers of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Portia’s college decision marks a full-circle moment.

She has appeared on the Bravo series since she was a young child, growing up on camera as part of the Richards-Umansky family dynamic. Watching her now prepare to leave for college highlights just how much has changed over the years.

With Season 15 nearing its reunion conclusion, the timing of the announcement adds another layer to Kyle’s evolving personal storyline.

As Portia prepares to head to Boulder this fall, the next phase of the Richards-Umansky family is officially underway.
