Margaret Jospehs may no longer be an active cast member on RHONJ, but that doesn’t mean she’s still not making waves.
The reality star‘s daughter-in-law, Rachel Josephs, married Josephs’ stepson Bret in September 2024, and the couple welcomed a baby boy, Jack Matthew Josephs, in November 2025. In a new Instagram reel, the reality star shared a moment with Rachel, where she was asked to describe her as a mother-in-law in just one word, and her unexpected answer caught everyone off guard.
Margaret Josephs Gets a One-Word Description From Her Daughter-in-Law, or Does She?
Margaret and Rachel Josephs shared a video where they sat with baby Jack and the reality star’s dog in a wood-paneled room. The caption read, “POV: The Marge is your mother-in-law.”
In the clip, Rachel tried to describe Margaret in one word. Sadly, Rachel couldn’t play by the rules, picking two adjectives to describe her feelings about the former RHONJ star.
“Phenomenal and fabulous,” she explained. Josephs responded, “Oh. Extra gifts.”
The next question was, “Does she give advice or instructions?” Rachel answered, “I would say instructions, but she’s always right.”
Josephs added, “I do give instructions. I’m a little bossy, I admit it. It’s OK, I don’t take offense.
“Do you ever pretend not to see her texts?” Rachel waited a moment before responding, “No.” But Margaret caught the pause and joked, “There was a hesitation.”
The questions continued: “Is she a more supportive or bossy mother-in-law?” Rachel called Josephs a “100% supportive queen.” In conclusion, Rachel said that the best thing about having the former reality star as a mother-in-law was her “humor, the love, the generosity. And she’s the best Gigi to our son, Jack.”
Margaret Josephs Loves Being a ‘GiGi’
Margaret Josephs shared her joy that she was a GiGi to Bret and Rachel’s first son, Jack, via a Facebook post. She shared a series of adorable photos taken of the newborn and posted in November 2025.
Bret is one of three stepchildren from Joseph’s first marriage to Jan Josephs, who passed in 2022.
She wrote in the caption of a series of photos, “Our hearts are full! Welcome, baby Jack Matthew Josephs! Mommy Rachel and Daddy Bret are over the moon and we are just in love.”
Baby Jack could have influenced Josephs’ decision to step back from RHONJ. On March 24, 2026, she announced she was leaving the cast of the hit Bravo series. In an Instagram video, the reality star confirmed the news.
“I’ve been in talks with the network and Andy [Cohen] since December, we’ve discussed it, and I think the timing is right,” Josephs revealed. “A lot of things have changed in my life. I’ve been blessed to work on a different project, I’m on the set right now, and I realized I have to spend more time with my family, work on my designing, and just take a break and move on.”
RHONJ begins filming in the spring. Returning to the series as cast members are Melissa Gorga, Teresa Giudice, and Dolores Catania.
