Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, is recovering after a frightening car accident in Colorado on Friday afternoon. As per a report in TMZ, her mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, revealed in an Instagram video that a 23-year-old man had T-boned Thompson as she was pulling out of her driveway.

The driver admitted he had been speeding at 40 MPH when he hit Thompson’s car on the driver’s side. The TLC star was treated at the hospital and has since returned home to rest.

Mama June Thankful It Wasn’t Worse

Mama June immediately traveled to Colorado to be with her daughter. She told TMZ she is “thankful” the accident was not more severe. “If she had pulled out a few seconds later, it would’ve been a whole different visit,” Shannon said. She explained that video footage shows Thompson yielding for 10 to 15 seconds before the oncoming car struck her vehicle.

Nursing Program Plans Put on Hold

The 19-year-old, who recently began her nursing program, was especially upset about missing the first day of clinical training.

Although Thompson wanted to attend, Mama June encouraged her to focus on healing instead. “She was set on still going to her clinicals, but I told her she needed to heal first,” Shannon shared, as per TMZ.

Family History Adds to Caution

Shannon also reminded her daughter about her older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s past accident. Years ago, Pumpkin was involved in a crash where she initially felt fine but was later diagnosed with a closed traumatic brain injury.

The “Road to Redemption” star said she wants Honey Boo Boo to take every precaution moving forward.

Honey Boo Boo’s Lifetime Biopic Shines Light on Her Journey

Honey Boo Boo was also in the spotlight when she had the release of her new Lifetime biopic, “I Was Honey Boo Boo.” Fans are curious about where the former child reality star is today and what her relationship with her mother, Mama June, looks like now.

The film, which debuted May 17 this year, was narrated by Thompson and takes viewers behind the scenes of her rise to fame. It traces her early days in pageants to landing her own TLC series after catching the attention of producers.

“But behind closed doors were forced smiles, silent tears, and the lingering sense of uncertainty for what the future held for Alana and her family,” the official synopsis reads.

“After a series of scandals and legal troubles, Alana’s world was turned upside down and she was ultimately placed in the care of her older sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird (Georgia Small).”
