‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ Star Jessica Shannon Splits From Wife in Emotional Statement

Jessica Shannon and her wife, Shyann McCant, have officially called it quits.

The reality TV star, best known for appearing on the hit reality series “Mama June: Family Crisis,” confirmed on Tuesday, June 2 that she and McCant have ended their relationship and are moving forward separately after more than a year of marriage.

Jessica Confirms the Split on Social Media

Jessica shared the news in a statement posted to Facebook, where she addressed fans directly and asked for privacy as both women navigate the difficult transition.

“As most of y’all can tell, me and Shyann are no longer together. We mutually decided that it was the best decision for both of us,” she began.

“Yes, we are still friends, and yes, we are both cordial with each other, but we are no longer in a relationship,” Jessica added. “We kindly ask that everyone be respectful during this time. Please don’t send hate or negativity to either of us. This is already a difficult situation, and mean comments or unnecessary drama won’t make it any easier.”

According to TMZ, sources close to the former couple said the split occurred within the last several days after both realized their relationship had reached its natural end.

Insiders indicated that the separation was mutual and was not caused by a specific incident. Instead, both Jessica and McCant reportedly saw the breakup coming and agreed it was the right decision.

While divorce paperwork has not yet been filed, the couple is expected to begin the legal process soon.

The report also states that Jessica has already moved out and is currently staying with her mother, Mama June, at her Georgia home as she adjusts to life following the separation.

The breakup comes just weeks after viewers watched Jessica and McCant celebrate their wedding during the Season 8 finale of “Mama June: Family Crisis.”

Although the ceremony recently aired on television, the couple had actually married months earlier.

Mama June Comments on the Breakup

Mama June addressed the situation herself in the comments section of Jessica’s post, stressing that the relationship and marriage were genuine.

“Look guys this is very real they didn’t get married for ratings they got married February last year and had a wedding in October yall have to realize sometimes things don’t work out and people decided to go there separate ways this is fake it’s very real but Jessica will still be there for Harper they just wanted yall to know first before yall heard it from other sources and all,” June wrote.

Fans quickly flooded the comments with messages of support and sympathy.

“Praying for everyone involved! It’s definitely okay to not be okay! And not everyone/ every relationship is meant to be forever. We sometimes grow up and drift apart. And that is okay. We live and learn,” one person wrote.

Another commenter expressed surprise, writing, “Wait. Seriously?! Like is this for real?”

A third added, “Oh no. I thought they were good together. But I also know that TV doesn’t show us everything going on. I wish Jesse the best.”

Jessica and McCant began dating in 2022 and were together for two years before becoming engaged in 2024.

Throughout their relationship, the pair frequently shared glimpses of their life together on social media and discussed future family plans on television.

Notably, Jessica’s most recent Instagram post, shared on May 24, featured the couple smiling together in matching pajamas before their wedding ceremony — a snapshot of happier times before their relationship came to an end.
