So, did Kai Beckstrand win “ANW” season 17? And the answer is…YES! Kai won!

Kai Beckstrand Spoke to EntertainmentNow About His Win

Kai Beckstrand, the 18-year-old winner of ‘American Ninja Warrior’ season 17, sat down with EntertainmentNow for a virtual interview the day of August 25 finale airing.

Kai said it “feels great” to see all his hard work pay off. “It’s a super rewarding feeling to see it all come together,” he said, before calling season 17, “my best season yet.”

He also revealed what was going through his mind as he stepped up to race Noah. He told us, “I knew I had the capabilities to go faster than what he had already done. But Noah is the kind to pull it out when it matters most. I knew I couldn’t lighten up.”

When asked how he strikes a strategic balance between speed and control, he explained most of his training is speed oriented so flying through the course feels totally natural. “I stayed away from training for endurance style courses,” he said.

The St. George, Utah native said his final run felt like smooth failing all the way through, but the one before that, in which he faced off with Isaiah Thomas for his finals spot, left him feeling “a little flustered.” He revealed, “After Thomas fell, I decided to come off the course a little early to save my energy.”

Kai Beckstrand Talked About Racing Brother Luke

The athlete said one of his favorite memories from the season was being able to compete against his brother. “Not a lot of people are able to say that,” he emphasized. Luke Beckstrand is a year younger than Kai, and impressively beat his brother to the buzzer in a run back in July.

When asked if he has any fun plans for spending his $250,000 prize money, Kai hinted, “I like working on cars.”

Recapping The Final Showdown

The two ninjas who qualified to the final battle were Kai Beckstram and Noah Meunier. Beckstram said of his opponent, “Looking at Noah, you would never think of him to be one of the fastest ninjas out there. He looks Clark Kent, and can fly through the course like Superman. “I have a fifth gear that hasn’t been seen yet,” Noah declared before the final run. The engineer, who is recognizeable for racing in his signature glasses, pumped his fists to hype upt he crowd before he and Kai prepared to tackle the 8 obstacles that would determine the winner.

Kai ultimately pulled ahead, and was pulled into a huge group hug by his thrilled friends and family as soon as he crossed the finish line and hit the buzzer.

Noah, ever the good sport, showed respect by holding up a heart symbol with his hands.
