Congressman Drew Cain is constantly lurking in some of Port Charles‘ finest establishments, figuring out which resident to manipulate next. Nearly every single bad thing that has happened within the last year can be directly attributed to Drew’s machinations. At any given point in time, “General Hospital” will have at least a few villains on the canvas, but for some reason, Drew Cain feels like the most evil of all. That is likely because he directly uses children both to accomplish his goals and as disposable collateral damage.
No one knows this better than Willow Tait, who dumped him at the altar after realizing that he is the reason she has lost so much. Her children, her ex-husband, Michael, her friends, and her home are all gone because Willow trusted Drew. For a hot second, it seemed as though Willow had learned her lesson, but her twisted logic is back again. Now, Willow believes that Drew can get her custody of Wylie and Amelia.
Willow Hatches a Plan That Even Elizabeth Can’t Talk Her Out Of
GettyElizabeth helped to literally pick Willow up off her face when she refused to marry Drew. When Willow realized that she no longer had a home, Liz took her in. When Willow screwed up at work, Liz, as her boss, made sure she would be okay. She has been one of the few people to show Willow any empathy, and she has tried to guide her towards stability. After all, Willow will need to be rock-solid to secure any visitation with her kids.
Instead of staying the course for a few months and proving that Drew guided every misstep she had made, Willow has decided to take a detour. She told Liz that she is getting back together with Drew because he is so powerful. Liz had the same reaction as GH’s viewers. If he were so powerful, he wouldn’t have cost you your kids in the first place! If he could have made good on all of his original promises, he would have, because winning Willow was the ultimate spite move against Michael.
Drew Talks a Good Game, But Does He Ever Really Win?
ABCWillow’s rationale in believing that Drew will help her now is more than a little off base. She explained to Liz that when she traveled to see Michael in the German clinic, it was actually Drew who prevented their visit. He had bribed the woman at the front desk to tell her that Michael didn’t want to see her. In Willow’s mind, Drew’s ability to manipulate an older woman on the other side of an ocean equals power.
Liz pointed out that this single event may be the absolute worst thing that Drew has done, because it prevented Willow and Michael’s reconciliation, but it was lost on Willow. She believes that she is smarter now because if she chooses to deal with Drew, she knows exactly who he is. That may be true, but Willow still seems blind to the fact that the congressman really doesn’t seem to get what he is usually after. That is a big part of why he has become so dangerous.
