It’s a great time to be a fan of “General Hospital.” The writers are serving up all kinds of soapy goodness, and the twists and turns seem to come in rapid succession these days. Viewers waited months for the character of Michael Corinthos to return, and then, without any warning, he appeared onscreen, now being played by actor Rory Gibson.
Gibson immediately jumped into a crazy storyline, one that includes his ex-fiancée, Sasha Corbin, giving birth to his child. The actor recently praised her to Soap Opera Digest, saying, “I can’t speak highly enough of Sofia (Mattsson). I think she’s one of the most incredible people I’ve met.”

GettyIt’s a soap opera, so of course, Michael and Sasha’s new baby girl, Daisy Gilmore Corinthos, had a dramatic entrance into this world. She was born on the courtroom floor during Michael’s divorce hearing, so Rory Gibson and Sofia Mattsson got to know each other up close and personal, really fast.
According to Gibson, “We’d had a couple of scenes prior to that, and she’s a wonderful actress. We kind of hit it off immediately. She’s just so easy to be around and so easy to talk to. And she has such a willingness to lock in on the scene. So, we had already had a couple of scenes where we were trading glances here and there, like there was a vibe going on in the scenes for sure, but we had to really get to a very intimate place with each other in these [birthing] scenes because we had this back-and-forth while everything was going on — Michael’s concern over what was happening, me trying to reassure her. And we were like nose to nose while we’re having this conversation, while the baby was coming. I just find it so easy to act with her and to work with her. She’s incredible and I hope we get a lot more [material together] down the line.”
Rory Gibson Loves Kids Both Onscreen and Off
Playing the character of Michael Corinthos means that Rory Gibson is now portraying a father of three small children, and that is a great thing, according to the actor. Baby Daisy joins big brother Wiley (whose biological mother is the late Nelle Benson) and older sister Amelia (Michael’s daughter with Willow Corinthos).
“I adore children. I cannot wait to have some of my own,” says Gibson to Soap Opera Digest. “Any time there’s a kid on set, it’s a great time to be there. I love getting to hold the babies, I love getting to hang out with the kiddos. It’s a great time. I just love kids!”
He and his longtime love Alicia Ruelas, are just about ready to start a family of their own.. “Me and my fiancée we’ve been talking about it for years and years, and we’re planning on kind of getting that train moving here pretty soon.”
