It’s the end of an era in Port Charles. This week on “General Hospital” Jason had an emotional meeting with Sonny Corinthos about his future with Sonny’s organization. Jason let Sonny know he’s decided to walk away from criminal life in order to spend time with his son Danny.
That’s a good thing, because Danny has been drifting into a life of poorly executed crimes and needs some guidance from his father. Sonny understood Jason’s need to walk away though.
Sonny told Jason that he also is getting out of the mobster life. He plans to get back his piers from Sidwell and start doing legitimate business.
Sonny even has Ric already working on some business deals. The mob boss and his right-hand man are both releasing their hold on the underworld of Port Charles. But who will take their places?
The New Era Of Organized Crime in Port Charles
Crime in Port Charles won’t disappear just because Sonny and Jason have decided they want out. Sonny has been the crime boss in Port Charles for a long time. He’s had to fight to win the respect and fear of anyone that wanted to challenge him. There aren’t many people left willing to try and take the top spot in town anymore.
Now, that big boss slot will be wide open for anyone that wants to try and take control of the seedier business dealings in Port Charles. Who will step into the void caused by Sonny and Jason leaving?
Time For Some New Blood
Sidwell is going to be locked up for a very long time. So it’s unlikely he will be able to take over Sonny’s role as the big boss in charge of shady business in Port Charles. Valentin Cassadine could step in. He’s got all his money back now, and Carly does love a mob man.
But what if newly arrived shady businessman Hudson Parker becomes the new force to be reckoned with in Port Charles? Even though not much is known about Hudson yet, he’s already shown that he’s pretty adept at violence and used to getting what he wants.
Hudson is the biological father of little Phoebe. And his scenes with Ethan show that he had a volatile relationship with Delilah. It’s likely he’s going to want his baby. That means fighting the Quartermaines, which could keep him in town for quite some time.
He’s Got The Skills
Hudson could be the perfect character to inject some new life and new blood into the underworld of Port Charles. If he’s connected to the business world and the art world he probably has a lot of connections that could help him establish business in Port Charles.
And it would be very interesting to watch Sonny and his new love ADA Turner take on a new mob boss in the city. Hudson is comfortable with violence, and he’s smart. He called Lulu’s house to see if Ethan was living there without giving anything away. And he managed to track down Ethan in Norway and plant a bug in the room while he was beating Ethan up. Hudson is smart, thinks fast on his feet, and is pretty ruthless. All of those qualities would make him a great replacement for Sonny when it comes to organized crime on “General Hospital”.
