Cody Bell always seems to find himself in a bit of trouble on “General Hospital.” Over the last few months, he has settled into a comfortable friendship with Molly Davis that suggests a deeper connection. Molly’s sister, Kristina, convinced Cody to distract Ava Jerome, for cash. Cody agreed to the job because he believed that getting Ava away from Molly’s father was a way of helping her, at least until everything blew up in his face.
When Molly arrived at the stables and walked in on a heavy-duty make-out session between Cody and Ava, he immediately came clean to both women. The thought of losing Molly in any capacity brought Cody’s true feelings rushing to the surface. His portrayer, Josh Kelly, recently chatted with Soap Opera Digest about the triangle.
Cody Doesn’t Want to Hurt Molly
ABCUp until very recently, Molly has been in denial about her feelings for Cody. The fact that she started being mean to him whenever Ava was around may have been a clue, but it was her upset at catching them together that made Cody realize their feelings are mutual.
“Out of left field, she’d been treating him kind of meanly. So he thought, ‘Well, I guess she’s not into me.’ But when she catches him with Ava, the way she reacts, I think that Cody subconsciously starts to think that maybe there is something there. And he likes her, and he doesn’t want to hurt her,” explains Kelly. “That moment is him getting clarity as to what he actually cares about it and it’s Molly. Cody cares about Molly more than money, so it’s refreshing.”
He also explains why Cody is drawn to Molly, saying that it is “because she seems like an honest person in a dishonest town and a dishonest world, and that’s refreshing. Like everyone in Port Charles, she’s been hurt, and he’s been hurt, so they can relate to one another. And when the universe keeps putting you together, you start to take notice. I think it gives her a nugget — like a seed, a seedling of faith, and seeds can grow.”
Cody Should Sleep With One Eye Open
ABCWhile Cody’s heart is already a little bit tangled up in Molly, he needs to be very worried about Ava’s reaction to learning that he played her. Ava is known for violence– just this week, she bashed Ric in the back of the head with a marble object, so Cody should be worried.
Kelly agrees, “I hope she doesn’t murder Cody! In the moment [of his confession], he’s not thinking about what Ava may do. Now, in the aftermath, I’m sure Cody is a little worried! One of the first things he said to Kristina when she first asked him to do this was, ‘Ava Jerome? She shot Mama Q [Olivia]! She’s killed people!”
He continues, “He was like, ‘You’re going to have to pay me a lot to do this because this is high risk, high reward.’ So, inevitably, after the fact, he probably has a couple of dark nights of the soul, wondering what might happen! He’s probably going to double-bolt his door when he goes to sleep for at least a couple of weeks [laughs].”
