For decades, fans of “General Hospital” have watched Maurice Benard bring one of the show’s most complex characters to life. A staple in Port Charles since the 1990s, Maurice has spent decades portraying Sonny Corinthos, the city’s most powerful mob boss.
While Maurice isn’t a mobster in real life, he does share quite a few similarities with his character. Maybe one of the most prevalent is the unconditional love and support they both have for their children.
Now, that same support is on full display as his son steps into the spotlight. Maurice’s son, Joshua Benard, recently shared a new song on social media, giving fans a glimpse into his music. Here’s what the emotional track is all about.
Joshua Benard Drops an Emotional New Song
Joshua Benard recently took to social media to share one of his newest songs with fans. The 21-year-old posted an Instagram Reel where he spoke directly to viewers.
He opened the video by asking, “Have you ever been in a situation where you really love someone, like a lot, probably more than you’ve ever felt before, but your morals and your values seem to get in the way? And you can’t seem to change it?”
Joshua then clarified, saying, “Yeah, I wrote a song about that, and it’s called ‘Crawling Backwards.'”
The singer then transitions into an emotional melody, sharing a track that explores the difficulty of walking away from a relationship despite strong feelings.
Fans Respond to Joshua Benard’s Latest Song
As Joshua poured his heart into his newest song, fans quickly responded with an outpouring of support.

Maurice Isn’t the Only Benard in Port Charles
In addition to his music, Joshua has also explored acting. As some “GH” fans may remember, Joshua actually joined his father in Port Charles a few years back.
Joshua portrayed the character of Adam Wright, the classmate of Josslyn Jacks, the daughter of Carly Spencer and Sonny’s former stepdaughter.
Joshua made a couple of appearances as Adam in 2022. However, he joined the “GH” cast on recurring status in September 2023. His storyline continued through February 2024.
Whether through music or acting, Joshua Benard is already making a name for himself, both inside and outside of Port Charles.
