Patrick Muldoon made his final public appearance in March, just weeks before his death at age 57. The “Melrose Place” actor attended the 53rd Annual Saturn Awards in Los Angeles on March 8, where he was joined by longtime friend and former partner Denise Richards.
The appearance marked a rare red-carpet outing for Muldoon and Richards, who have remained close for decades since their relationship.

Muldoon stepped out at the Saturn Awards wearing a navy blue suit paired with a pale pink button-down shirt and black loafers. Richards also attended the event, wearing a bright yellow one-shoulder mini dress with sculptural cutout details.
The pair posed together on the red carpet, reflecting a friendship that has continued long after their romantic relationship ended.
Muldoon and Richards first met in 1997 while filming “Starship Troopers,” which was released the following year. They dated until 2000 but remained close after their split.
“I’ve known Patrick Muldoon since I was 19 years old,” Richards said during a 2019 episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” “We call each other ‘schweet babe’ because we had nicknames on Starship Troopers for everyone.”

Richards has spoken openly about her friendship with Muldoon over the years, including periods when they were not in contact.
“I did not speak to Pat when I was married to Charlie,” Richards said during a March 2025 episode of her show “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things.” “And it was hard, because I didn’t want to lose him as a friend. But toward the end of the marriage, I talked to him all the time about him.”
After her divorce from Charlie Sheen in 2006, Richards reconnected with Muldoon, and the two remained close. She later addressed their relationship during her marriage to Aaron Phypers.
“Mine and Pat’s relationship romantically was years ago and it’s just a deep friendship,” she said on her Bravo series. “I’m so grateful Aaron respects that because Charlie, he had a hard time with my relationship with Pat.”
Phypers also commented on their dynamic, saying, “Patrick and I, we have a very good relationship. I don’t get jealous like that.”
Muldoon was also referenced on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” when Lisa Rinna revealed she had a past relationship with him during the same time period.
Muldoon died on April 19 after suffering a heart attack, according to TMZ. He was found unconscious in his Beverly Hills home by his partner, Miriam Rothbart.
Paramedics responded to the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.
