Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Discusses Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift’s Engagement

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement on Instagram on August 26, much to the delight of celebrities, friends, loved ones, and fans. The pair posted stunning photos from a garden proposal, which took place at Kelce’s home. The caption reads, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The engagement took place on August 10 after Swift’s appearance on the “New Heights” podcast, which Kelce hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the engagement news. Fans are already speculating wedding details, including who will cater for the event (and Gordon Ramsay’s name has been thrown into the mix after his congratulatory post for the couple). But how does Kelce’s head coach feel about the engagement?

Kansas City Chiefs Coach Reacts to Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Engagement

There has been an outpouring of love for the couple. Andy Reid, head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, has commented on the news. “Listen, I’m happy for ’em,” Reid told Kansas City Sports Radio 810 WHB. “It’s hard to find somebody that you fall in love with. That’s not an easy thing to really fall in love, and it seems like they’re there.”

He continued, “I think it’s a great deal for both of them. They like being around each other, and that’s a plus, I think.”

Kelce is a sporting legend in the NFL, and Swift has earned worldwide popularity and success from her music. The couple’s relationship might be hot news, but they are both professionals who have worked hard to achieve their success.

Reid discussed Kelce and Swift’s fame, saying, “They’re both busy people in their own right, and both are very famous in their own right, so its kinda neat that they come together and handle themselves the way they do.”

For some sporting fans, there is concern that Kelce’s relationship, which is of public interest (their joint engagement post has already garnered 35 million likes), could be a distraction. His coach has defended him against these beliefs before. In September 2024, Reid complimented his tight end’s dedication to the sport.

“I know people are saying that he’s old or that he has distractions, but defenses don’t think that,” he said, Fox News reports. “Trav is fine, he just keeps being Trav. He works his tail off, and he hasn’t lost a step.” Reid also stated that Kelce is “not distracted.”

Kelce is 35 and will be 36 on October 5. He is just two months older than Swift, whose birthday is on December 13.
