‘The Voice’ Coach Niall Horan ‘Thrilled’ with New Tech Brand Ambassador Gig

Irish singer-songwriter Niall Horan has boasted plenty of high profile jobs over the years. After touring the world with his now-disbanded boy band One Direction as a teenager, to founding his own sports management company, Modest Golf, in 2016, Horan is currently preparing for his third season as a Coach on NBC’s “The Voice.”

For the 31-year-old artist, however, his busy schedule of interviews, filming and travel hasn’t worn him down, thanks in no small part to his commitment to health and wellness. While Niall stays active on the golf course, he is similarly a devoted user of WHOOP, a wearable fitness device that provides its users with “insights and guidance on which daily habits impact how fast you’re aging – so you can take control, slow it down, and spend more years doing what you love.”

Horan Named Brand Ambassador for WHOOP Wellness App

After being a dedicated WHOOP-wearer for years, the “Slow Hands” singer was announced as the tech brand’s newest brand ambassador on Wednesday, September 3. The announcement was accompanied by a series of promotional images showing Horan, guitar in hand, superimposed over WHOOP’s heartrate tracking technology.

“Niall’s been a WHOOP member for years, and we’re proud to officially welcome him to the WHOOP team,” said Will Ahmed, Founder and CEO of WHOOP. “He’s living proof that the world’s top performers don’t all wear jerseys/ His schedule – late nights, adrenaline spikes, relentless travel – would break most people. WHOOP has helped him recover faster and show up stronger night after night. I’m excited to work with Niall to bring that same edge to more people around the world.”

Unlike other smart watches and fitness trackers, WHOOP provides users with a full view of their overall health, tracking factors like sleep, strain, stress and heart health. For superstar users like Horan, the app similarly tracks Stage Performance as an activity, showing that high-intensity performances can not only increase heart rate, but also put strain on the heart, lungs and muscles. In response to the excess strain, WHOOP provides users like Niall with step-by-step advice on how to counteract the negative effects of high-intensity activity with recovery and sleep to ensure that he can be at the top of his game everytime he steps on stage.

Niall Puts His Money Where His Mouth is as WHOOP Investor

“I’ve been using WHOOP for a while now, and it’s completely changed the way I understand my body – whether I’m on stage, in the studio, or just taking care of myself day to day,” said Horan. “I’m thrilled to join the WHOOP team as both a partner and investor to help more people take control of their health and perform at their best.”

Horan’s investment in the tech company comes after the singer raked in more than $2.2 million off his sell out “The Show” world tour last year.

As a partner and investor, Horan’s collaboration with WHOOP will see the “The Voice” coach appear in exclusive content, brand campaigns and community engagement initiatives focused on promoting overall health and well-being amongst users. Fans can also look forward to behind-the-scenes looks at how Niall structures his own busy schedule around the insight he receives from the WHOOP app.

Niall will return as a Coach on NBC’s “The Voice” Season 28 alongside Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé on Monday, September 22 at 8:00pm ET.
